Reducing the unidentified items required even as much as 50% would still leave the Anima weapon taking greater effort over a longer period of time.http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/s...65#post3494765
And because the ilvl 230 step is not about effort over a longer period of time, the ilvl 210 nerf is not coming until the next step with a big grind
To be honest, I'd be pissed off being halfway through my relic if they reduced the cost of the items after I've spent all of my tomes on them. I'm glad it's just as grindy or my previous effort would have been pointless.
Eventually we'll get a step where we can customize the stats. *shrug*Next week I can get a i230 book with 114crit and 80ss, without doing much. The weapon have 2 materia slots.
Or
I can spend 3.5 millions, grind tons of tomestones, spend hours and hours doing roulettes, all of that to get an i210 weapon which I'll need to upgrade to i230 by either grinding even more tomestones or waiting weeks to get these tokens by doing the Crystal Tower again. Which would give me a weapon with 109det and 114ss. The weapons doesn't have materia slots.
In short terms, not only the weapon from option 2 is worse, but it would take such a huge investment that I would probably spend all my playtime doing it.
Well, I guess the Anima weapon, at least for SMN, is still completly crap.
That's why I keep up with even the ones that aren't necessarily BiS.
Yeah. I see folks in my FC doing this stuff and I can't help but wonder "Why?". Let's assume an average of 100 tomes per dungeon run. With a required 54,400 tomes that's 540 dungeon runs. Let's further be generous and assume we get half our items for "Free" from activities we'd do anyway for fun or other rewards (Hunts/Beast Tribes/Running friends through MSQ/We just like Gordias) that's 270 dungeon runs.
I've found on average I need about 75 dungeon runs to get a class 15->60. We'll call a i210 eso upgrade 5 dungeon runs. It takes 80 dungeon runs to bring a class 15->60 and get i210 on them at the end. This means for the investment in 1 i210 relic (270 dungeon runs) I can get 3 new classes to 60 with i210s with room to breathe. The value proposition just isn't there. I really can only see it as odd status symbol or time sink for those who like the look and are just that super hardcore into glamour/completion ism.
EDIT: I'm sure if you count the darned crystal grined and all the money you need to earn you can get those 3 60s fully geared at i210 or throw in another class at 60 and a fresh 50 too.

All I hear from this thread are people complaining they weren't up to speed on the relic and now want to screw the people over that have invested the time already.
It's not that bad. Halfway trying I was done with the 210 in 2-3 weeks. I shouldn't be shocked at how many entitled self centered people there are. All the time spent crying to could be that much closer. I understand crafting mats can be a wall for some people but, it's an MMO make friends and go gather the mats yourself. If you don't want to invest the time in a gather/crafter class you pay the price.
So I'll then eventually do my anima weapon when the questline will eventually receive a nerf making it eventually worth it to do.
I'll assume you spotted the key word in here.
My time and my money will be better spend leveling my crafting classes. By the point where the anima becomes "good enough", I'll probably be able to craft the items myself, making it a way better return on investment than I'd get by keeping up with the current step. Even if it means that I'll need an extra month to make up for being late.
I'm quite sad to say that, and it's disappointing to think of this awesome weapon as "not worth it".
Isn't the point of this weapon to think "Yeah, it's worth it, even if it's a boring chore"?
Sure, I could do it. But again, the weapon is worse than its counterparts. So what's the point? Being in the "server first" race to have a BiS weapon at the end of the expension?
Again, not worth it.
The main reason why I do the relic chain is because it's essentially a reward for playing the game. Although it gets grindy, I've enjoyed the relic process so far. If I didn't enjoy it, then I wouldn't do it.Yeah. I see folks in my FC doing this stuff and I can't help but wonder "Why?"
I also like having one less weapon to need to buy with tomes. I'll get a tome weapon for my DPS job, but not until I've bought all the lore armor I need.
Trust me. I'm not crying. I can get comparable/better weapons to the Anima for a fraction of the effort. I don't need an anima. I might want one if the reward was somehow comparable to the effort required. All I hear from this thread are people complaining they weren't up to speed on the relic and now want to screw the people over that have invested the time already.
