I want this RNG system. if you don't want it there is still the tomes, raidgear and crafted gear... i think that is fair for all players. the diadem was exactly that. but on the other hand... i really hated the diadem xD but the idea was good...

but the RNG system has a big problem in this game: they replace the gear way too fast. when i am grinding weeks for one item i want to use it a while and not replace it just another week later...

    ------

one thing what i want in FF14 is relic armor. why not taking the AF armor sets and build a relic questline where you can upgrade the whole set piece by piece with such a grind we already have for the weapons? it's super easy copypaste for the devs and we have an endless grind o.o/

What I mean, have not a huge diferente. Now we have the tomes for all players, and the savage for hardcore. Casual palyers can get the 220 and 230 stuff with Alex/Lore, and the hardcore can upgrade to 240 quicker than the others who need wait till the 240 are free for all. I think is very balaced now. Casuals still can get good gear, though is not too good as the high level raids, but they can gear up, and the most dedicated palyer can go to the high elvel content for better gear, without having a huge diffenrece between the rest of the players.

*Shrugs* Your opinion, and it's not like the other methods of gear acquisition wouldn't be there too, with raiding still being the best. The tome system is good for some people, but if there was an RNG system in place (beyond the mounts at the end of primals) to provide variety from all kinds of mobs - as hunting games do - it would simply add a layer of play ability in the game and a bit more excitement imho when running older content (which is pretty much all of the game), not something anyone has to do. I'm fully aware it will never happen due to development issues. It is however the game I'd prefer to play. Really bored of the tome system. It's just not working for me anymore. I log in to say hi to FC and run an EX or something with the few friends I have in game who still play. That's all I do nowadays.

Indeed, it is well balanced to accommodate the top 10% and the bottom 10% quite nicely.

I can definitely understand that people get bored...but honestly, no one should expect SE to completely change their game design. And after playing this game for a while, you can easily see that they like the way they do things: tomes that have a weekly cap, working to cap for the week while gearing up...these things haven't changed at all.

Sadly, if you really can't take the grind, then this game is not for you. I doubt they will change their model. Spend your money on a game you find really exciting!

Personally, I love FFXIV, and I get bored sometimes too. But I also have really awesome friends that I play with, so even doing the daily extreme every day and doing alex over and over is great, because they make the game that much more fun.

yes I certeinly prefer the single player game item system, do a dungeon 1 time, find a hidden room with epic loot but this is not a single player game is it?

You said it well Tauriel. I've been pretty displeased with the tomestone design since I first saw similar systems in other games. I've always preferred to get my loot directly from the drop of something, rather than in a treasure chest or from a random currency you get for completion. Despite there being a frustrating RNG factor, it just felt more real and interesting to me. Personally, I'd like to see a system like that, and for people to use things like Loot Master - so that you and your team can decide what's fair.

Regardless, as I mentioned you are right. This is not the game for me. It is the best game currently for me, however. As soon as the right game for me pops up, I'm outta here.

.05 for like a single 8 min run that you can repeat isn't bad.

    That's why I mentioned resource.

A great example is getting a Kraken club from BCNM in FFXI.

I believe it was .05%, but to run it ONCE you needed I think 60 ancient beast coins. And getting that many could take you days to weeks.

This is when IMO RNG is a little too much.

Wouldn't be bad if we could just spam rerun at .05%

Personally, I can't say I'm tired of it as such. I mean, I rather farm tokens that lead to a guaranteed reward than farm things and may not even see my reward in over hundred runs. I had that a lot in early WoW. Wasn't fun, neither for me, nor the people who came help me on my farming runs. Sure, there was a big celebration when it dropped, but only because the suffering was finally over and we could go and do something fun instead.

What I don't like is that caps don't carry over in any way. I don't know about you guys, but sometimes I'm drowning in tomes (like right now, where I'm at 80 feast games just trying to get my fenrir pup, which happens to be RNG based >_>) and other times I'm more or less forcing myself to cap. More different activities to cap tomestones with would be appreciated as well. Capping with PvP instead of dungeons was a nice change of pace and helped a lot with not getting tired of the dungeons as swiftly.

And then there are these stupid moments where you are capped and have nothing meaningful to do anymore except for inflating your coinpurse with crafting.
Also, tomestones should, at the very least, be role capped, rather than having a general cap. It takes roughly fifteen weeks to deck out ONE class in tomestone gear, a time by which the catch-up patch is on the horizon. Equipping multiple classes is just a nightmare, even if you "have" a good amount of time on your hands. You're not even gating progression at that point anymore, because with STR accs for tanks gone, roles don't have overlapping equipment anymore, so you can't abuse it to get a headstart.
