No ones trying to get rid of tomestones, they work well for people who cant play alot. I guess im just tired of being lumped into the casual or hardcore crowd. There is an inbetween. People who are midcore and/or enjoy the social aspect and teamwork within a fc raid. There isnt much for us, not even small scale. Diadem could have been so much more if more planning and thought was put into it...

    Ok then,

Remove ilvl or cap it for the next patch at 250 or whatever.

All new endgame gear is ilvl 250.

ilvl 250 gear can now be upgraded using <Generic weekly item> This could be capped so far, 5 upgrades per item for example until new content comes so your not OP then it gets increased again.

    Make elemental stats relevant again.

All new gear has materia slots for elemental / status materia, making them useful again.

There's a new dungeon with lots of poison? I'll meld poison resistance to this set so it lowers the duration and potency.
Farming Seph? I'll meld Earth resistance so I can take less damage.
Void Ark? i'll meld petrification resistance so I don't have to turn away from last boss.

Maybe even add Fire damage to the fire materia giving you a bonus against ice enemies.

    Another way of doing this by removing ilvl altogether;

    ilvl has been removed.

All gear can now be upgraded using <Generic weekly item> This could be capped so far, 5 upgrades per item for example until new content comes so your not OP then it gets increased again.

    Gear has bonus stats.

    e.g

The Brand New Cuirass set that was introduced in the new patch has +5% Vit for each piece to help newbies. If you kept upgrading this set it would be amazing for endgame tanks.

There would obviously have to be some kind of scaling system has to how much it gets upgraded each time but you get the idea.

I'm not really tired since I took my time getting where I am today. I'm just now starting get serious about leveling after accomplishing some minor goals I had before. Since I don't rush content, everything stays fresh. It's just the way I play games, I take my time to enjoy what the game has to offer to get my money's worth and not be bored.

The game imho needs a lot more RNG and taking of cues from hunting games. I'm thinking PSO but Monster Hunter works just the same for the purposes of example.

If your play style is such that you craft and use the economy, there's crafted gear. This time around the 220 gear is perfectly good enough to get someone through to the next patch. No need for time grinding, raids etc.

If your play style is roulettes and dungeons, or pvp, you can grind tomes.

If you are more the raiding type, there's Savage.

The game already has this, but as pointed out, you can really only gear 1-2 characters this way and the content is too minimal to do all that for months, so for more of a gaming/grinding play style the game imho needs what hunting games offer - RNG from lots of sources so you can get higher end gear if lucky or spend the time. Adds excitement for running old content over and over and gives another source for higher end gear to equip many jobs between patches. I'd also add some weapon variation, special effects beyond simple glow, more complex stats etc - things to make it more interesting to actually play - but that starts to go off topic.

It would then be as it is now. Raid tier would probably still be the best to preserve game balance for raiders, but just below that could be a bunch of really good, really rare RNG things found or crafted from all over. Below that are then tomes for grinding and then basic crafting tier stuff.
But the RNG system is the most unfair system ever. As example, some people got the bird mount at frist down, other farm for more than 50 downs and not a single bird. RNG will cause some people with luck get items in day 1, other can spent months and got nothing. RNG is enough in this game and no one wants it. That's frustrating, not fun. As I say, it is very difficult make a system fair for all players.

It eventually balanced out tho In the super long run.

I'll use triple triad as an example. I went 1/250 on sir aymeric. Someone else got him 1/20. Wow really unfair for me right? But I got estinien, and ice heart less than 30 games combined. My friend? 1/99 on estinien and like 1/60 on Ice heart.

Some places you get screwed some places you don't. You're only gonna naturally focus on your negative RNG. So it feels unfair.

For the record I really hate RNG if it's something like .05% and it requires a lot of resources.

Like getting zidane from gold packs. You're making people in this case spend MGP. This one is BS because you have to spend hours. Just for a one time chance at a low drop rate, for something so mediocre like zidanes card

.05 is not too terrible. In another game I grew up playing the drop rate for a Vulbis dofus egg is like .001 base

I have been pretty tired of tomestone running for quite a while. I was hoping for a change to it at some point, something more than "introducing the newest tomestone!" which is neither newsworthy or innovative(seriously, we might as well collect polished rocks with "Allagan tombstone" painted on it). That they added it to crafting pisses me off about it even more.

Why should a casual NOT be behind a hardcore player? If someone invests a lot more time and practice into a game, should they not be farther ahead than someone who doesn't?

To me, this game turns more and more into a single player RPG with a chat function (FC/LS) and occasional multiplayer (DF).

I used to spend so many hours per day in this game running all kinds of content with friends and FC-mates, but now all I do is:
daily: DF the exp roulette, get the Vath Quests done, (both together take me 45 min to an hour max)
on Thursday: cap crafter (takes me an hour max.) and gatherer red scrips (all 3 gatherers @ 60 ftw)
on Saturday/Sunday; run Alex Midas for the Midan Gear, and if I'm up for it a VA for the Mhachi Matter.

My personal endgame is either go and fish or rearrange the furniture in my house ... nowadays, I've been just logging off and either I play something else or just watch TV/read a book/listen to music.

I went from someone who loved to run things like the Primals to someone who absolutely loathes it. Mostly due to how bad many parties and the attitude of many players has become during the last 5,5 years (I've been around since Alpha 1.0).
95% of the parties i've joined for SephEx just ended breaking up after 2 or 3 runs because either people had to leave (why join a party if you only have 30 minutes is beyond me), or people are really really aggressive, impatient, offensive, rude etc. even if it's just a training party.
Am I becoming too old for this? Sadly lately it feels as if that's the case.

I wish there would be a stronger and more close knit community (outside of FCs and LSs). Back in XI it felt as if I knew everyone on the server (mostly due to actually meeting everyone at least once in an exp-party)
Also, it would be awesome if there would be more possibilities to actually run content with more than 4 or 8 people, maybe to have proper raids (at least for those who want it) that requires the coordination of multible 8-man teams and not those half baked 24 man dungeons that pretty much everyone just facerolls 3 days after its release.
Or something like Besieged back in FFXI, pitch everyone who wants to fight against waves of strong monsters.
