What I meant by the word "modern", and how I read most other instances of its use in this thread, was as a description of the sorts of things you'd see people wearing or traveling around in if you took a walk around your local shopping mall. I tend to agree with the person who posted above me that garlean, ironworks, Allagan and goblin styles are more steampunk /sci-fi themed than modern day. But like I said above, a few things here and there don't break immersion, I wouldn't complain if a hoodie was introduced that was designed to look like something an eorzean might wear. Then again, we have quite a few hooded items in game already so who knows.

do you realize you just shot yourself in the foot there? they have modern looking stuff....that fits the actual theme very well..../gasp, maybe they could do it again???

Allagan gear/Ironworks gear, Airships, Machinist-stuff and such are not modern, they are still sci-fi/fantasy. Maybe you should read my post more than once or just look at the current gear. I dont find any AK47 or P90 in this game. Or something like jeans, hoodies and jackets ; )

In terms of immersion breaking aesthetics yes...yes they would be in my honest opinion.

I'm gonna have to chalk another no on this idea, then again I already dislike some of the incredulous options for glamour they have available. Call me old fashioned but I like when people look like they are actually dressed to preform the task they are doing.

How is it any different? The reasoning given is that hoodies and jeans can be done within the universe, all Eorzea's Weavers need to do is think it into existence. The same applies to an AK47 or a P90, we have the technology, hell seeing some of the ridiculous gun designs it would be a step below the current level we have already, far below the technology the Garleans have, let alone the Allagans. All that needs to be done is for them to be "thought into existence". The point is that it doesn't fit, "it's fantasy and that means anything goes" isn't a reason. Wouldn't you think someone was strange if they rocked up to your local supermarket rocking Havel's set?

actually if the machinist weps looked more real life like like even the pirate pistols i would lv one, for some reason we always have that stuped looking thing at our hip unlike the maelstorm admrial meyrb that has two pistols no silly clip thing on belt.

I think if they took the modern design, and maybe added some medieval flare to it, it could potentially work :O! I say they should add a set or two to give it a shot.
