Same GC Ifrit killers gets better reward

I totally agree. I posted this in the 1.19 Patch Notes thread, but it sums up my feelings:

That being said, I think Square / Yoshida-san made a few questionable mistakes in 1.19 already:

Those who defeat Ifrit in a party formed exclusively of members from their own Grand Company will earn greater rewards.

Square keeps telling us, "Oh don't worry about what Grand Company you join!" and they add this "little" caveat above?!

It's not all about Gear or Rewards (just doing the Ifrit Fight will be really fun), but it's questionable what they were thinking when adding this. Of course it's going to promote your friends and/or LS mates to want to join the same Grand Company.

It sets a precedence for future Dungeon / Raids to "those in the same Grand Company will earn even cooler stuff (again) and (again) etc. in 1.20 and beyond."

Maybe they were hoping that it'd promote just grabbing strangers / pick up groups, but I think it will do the opposite (especially since this is for Ifrit Hard Mode).

Yoshida-san please change this.

Don't feel compelled to join The Immortal Flames (the best of the 3) just because everyone else is doing it.

I just wish I wasn't so tempted with The Maelstrom when my character is from Gridania...

I actually dismissed The Immortal Flames as I figured it would be the Kiddy central one, and most popular, Shame as the lore for it seems nice..

I'm pretty sure the extra reward is nothing more than extra gil or a bonus to receiving more ifrit items from the chest. Like say, if you have a full party of people from twin adder the chest will yield 5 or 6 drops instead of like, 2, 3 or something. I'm still joining the Twin Adder, other people from my ls will be joining the the companies they desire as well, and we will do this content regardless of people's GC choices.

That's kind of a different problem.

That aside, if you join the IF just because everyone else is, you're only perpetuating the social stigma you're against in the first place.

Well I'll be having fun doing Ifrit with my fellow GC members from Gridania.
Having a small number of us doing it with that company is probably a good thing, we'll get to know each other better and have more fun doing it.

You have said before that we shouldn't worry which GC we choose, however:

I cannot choose my GC "freely" knowing that I may be missing out on better loot or possibly exclusive loot from Ifrit by doing so.

Could you please explain what exactly is the "greater reward" from defeating Ifrit by members all of the same GC?
