Not likely with the way some of our dedicated PvP'ers act. Raging at people for not "being good", telling them to uninstall, etc.Well, on the good side... Having people who normally wouldn't touch PvP with a ten foot pole try it out because of a minion (same with people trying it out because of glamour), chances are at least some will realize they actually like it, and stay with it even after they get their minion =)
Does SE ever learn?
As seller: yay, gil...
As collector: Sorry, i will give up!
As Player: screw it, its just impossible with those droprates.
We want jobbers like them so we can beat them for the awards.
Yeah, it's the dev's fault for making it so that the only way to rank up is to solo queue, but there's enough threads about that subject.
Anyways, the only thing I can think of it to try to convinced the newer PvPers to queue for the 8v8 (practice) mode; some people say that they've received the minion from there, too.
It's more that there's people that don't try as hard as they could be.
They don't use their PvP skills, they don't research the game mode at all. They play like it's pve.
When your rank is at the whim of another player, you're going to urge them to improve their skills. Some may just not have the tact others do.

Or any tact at all, for that matter. I'm sorry, but "If you don't know how to play right, go kill yourself" (sadly, I've seen variations of this said on more than one occasion) isn't anything even remotely like "urging them to improve their skills." Yes, I think people should do some research before going into PvP, just like PvE. No, I don't think people have the right to abuse them if they don't. Honestly, if I was the one being screamed at like that, I'd probably play worse on purpose just to spite the person raging at me.
That's honestly one of the things that keeps me from playing PvP more than I do. It just seems to bring out the worst in people. :s
Alright, lets put this into perspective.
Imagine solo 4v4 queue is the farm party. If you don't know the mechanics, and are a first timer joining a farm party, with very low dps, doesn't know what half their skills do, you'll find that the farm party gets very toxic quickly. Now imagine that every time you wiped, your chance of getting rewards were reduced, and unlike farm parties, you can't choose to exclude people you don't like.
Or put it another way, 4v4 solo queue is savage in which you have to DF it alone every single time. Don't tell me that solo DF only savage wouldn't get toxic. It would.
You know those pve PFs that are like "ONE SCREW UP AND YOU'RE BOOTED AND REPLACED!!", well, you can't boot people in pvp (not really, gotta be out of battle, and 5mins into the 10min game >.>).... and you get the same people who would make those kind of PFs in 4v4 solo queue... so.. toxicity levels increase.
That is how the feast is.
8v8 is more like the learning party, it's not rated (so people won't rage so much when you lose), and it's (a little) less intense than 4v4, and you can still get the minion and mount from it.
4v4 partied is fun-run-with-your-static-time. Personally I like this mode the most, it has rating as well, and the minion and mount, but you can't get the rewards that solo 4v4 queue will have. If you wanted, you could get 3 friends together and learn how to pvp in this mode. Since you are going with 3 friends, you won't get raged at, like you might do in 8v8 or 4v4 solo queue. Of course, you might get totally crushed by a party that is experienced at it, but hey, watching how they use their abilities and work together could be a good learning experience.
Hopefully that clears up why 4v4 solo queue is so toxic.

No? o_O Griefing would be that they were being bad intentionally.
I don't think all of the new people are in it for the minion (I certainly couldn't care less, but hey - a puppy bonus I won't pass up). I had only just started PVPing, after all this time, because I could finally queue with friends, whom are scattered across GCs. I was still wary, but a poke from a friend who PVPs all the time saying a lot of people in their PVP linkshell were failing, made it less intimidating. After one try, I couldn't get enough of it. Sure, some were pitiful failures off attempts and you might as well thrown a herd of angry rhinos at the comparable baby bunny... but now and then it was fun to be able to put up a pretty good fight (I'm assuming the opposite team weren't pvp veterans, though).
...I didn't even know about the minion (And someone in an 8 vs 8 blatantly said "and still no Fenrir pup" - I had not a clue what they were talking about.
Being I'm new, no pvp gear, no real or good vit gear and still trying to figure out the best times to use what skills and such.... yeah, I'm gunna suck until I can build up the wolf marks (or get vit eso accessories in the least) and experience.
At this point, I'm doing it because it's fun and I find it exciting and a change from the old - but still working my way to getting better at it.... if that's a crime in a game, then those that think so need to re-evaluate some perspectives... >.>
I will say this..... I suck incredi-bad at MNK in pvp >.> lol *Sticks to AST*

Last time I touched PvP was back when vanilla WoW was the only thing out. There was one guy in our semi-static that would just RAGE when we lost. He considered himself the "best PvP druid" on the whole server, and absolutely hated losing. Needless to say I haven't touched PvP in any game since. *shrugs* That and I'm just not coordinated enough to move and attack in the way that PvP requires. :P
