^ I missed it sometimes. I had few japanese and german players I played with regularly.
Usually one player spoke some english and me with my limited japanese and german could follow basic directions and the auto translate was way better in FFXI.

Back on the subject I have my selection to English and I do not care if the whole party speaks another language the whole fight. What I find hard is a super chatty party that wants me to talk the whole time. I use a controller(ps4 player), keyboard, healing and I don't have time to wax poetic plus I'm kinda shy.

THB, I've never heard of that happening. The DF language selection is there to pair you up with other people who have the same DF language ticked. (So if you tick all four in DF, you can get paired up with anyone who ticked any of those languages; they don't have to tick all four to be paired up with you.) The selection in your character profile is different (you know, the one you get to when you rightclick(PC) your name in the party list, or anyone else in either party list or search window, and choose View/Edit [whatever they're called again, I forget]). And the languages you see if you open up the party window is not the languages they selected in DF, but the languages they ticked in their own settings.

The thing is, the majority of players on EU and NA data centres seem to play with E only -- because for most non-French, non-German and non-Japanese people, English is usually the language they understand the best of the four. So people checking only F or only D tend to have longer queues, because they have a smaller selection of people. Hence the whole 'tick all languages for faster queues' mess =/

On a random, non-DF related note... Some time back, when you still needed 10 mobs of each type, me and my flatmate were killing mobs for our Atma Books, and ran into this French guy who pretty obviously was on the same book as us (we ran into him in two places right after each other). We tried to work with him, tagging mobs and then leaving him to kill them (because tagging = auto-count, even if you don't hit it even one more time), or splatting the mobs he'd tagged, just so we'd both get the mob to count. In turn, he started spouting French stuff at us. Neither of us speaks French, so we had very little clue as to what he was talking about, except that it wasn't too friendly. We said that sorry, we didn't speak French. He ignored it. And due to him keeping on doing it, my flatmate finally got annoyed enough and started responding to him. In Swedish. Mostly just comments along the lines of "well, if you can argue with us in your language when we've said we don't understand it, I'll just do the same, then".
Finally, the guy says, in English, "I don't speak Turkish." My flatmate responds (also in English), "That makes two of us." The other guy goes, "This is French server. Go away." (paraphrased, since it's a while back). And we just stare at him as if he's got five arms and eight eyes. Wut? Sure, there's a bunch of French people/FCs on Phoenix, but... there's also a bunch of German, Spanish and even Finnish FCs. And, of course, plenty of English-speaking FCs. I...really have no idea how he could have gotten the idea that Phoenix was supposed to be a French server O.o

FFXIV made me racist against Lalafell, so perhaps you're similar.
But disliking people who muddle the language barriers has nothing to do with race, my Lalafellen poster.

Now get out before I eat you!

I was being told it was the case honestly ('bout being paired with ppl without considering languages tag), but reading answer I m actually doubting it now. Truly, ppl that tag in DF languages they can't use are lame, especially in trials or raid where you do have to co-ordinate or follow chat orders.

What you've being said on Phoenix is incredible, even on moogle which could be considered french server, there's still a majority of E speaking ppl, I guess some ppl are just helplessly dumb.

    We're a match made in he(ll)aven
Seen that too. As french, I can tell that most of bad players I 've seen were E (cause they are the overwhelming majority of players, not cause they're especially dumb), then D. Make sense when you know History, intelligent ppl try to surpass this antagonism, but meh... prejudice stays

I mean, I know it's stupid and all community have probably same amount of bad players, but I can't help to have a bad feeling when I'm paired with D only speaking ppl.

You're confusing the language displayed in player information with that which the player close when queuing for DF. You cannot see what language(s) the player ticked when they queued. Duty Finder will not pair you with a group who doesn't have the same language as you set. If you have proof of it happening then please contact SE in game as there's a fault on either your account or the way DF is interpreting your information.

7/8 in my group spoke English. 1/8 couldn't understand, as his language was Spanish. They wanted him removed, but me and the healer fought to give him a chance. Lo and behold, he continued to do better than the rest of us, mechanics and all.

I believe because some people are truly talented. It's worth to give them a chance. It's rare, but I seen so many under geared players perform better than someone who has top tier equipments. Those people don't always speak english, or maybe understand the language, but just don't talk. In any case, it's natural to reject someone if they can't get along, but as far as my experience go, you should always try your best and keep things going. Even if someone being rude or elitist, just don't react and try to adjust your pace. I noticed many players are emotional and if someone being mean, they try to fight back. But what is better, fight back? or ignore and proceed to victory.

i thought this was gonna be one of those "lallafell master race" threads. also i don't think you can be racist against a language, the people behind the screen might be a different ethnicity altogether.

When I first read the topic title I was thinking "hating Roes isn't racist, it's just smart policy." xD

All kidding aside, it's natural to get a little frustrated when a group fails over and over again and you can't even communicate why the group is failing to the people who are making the most mistakes. It's not racist at all as I see it.

    I agree, it's natural +1

But some people learn fast, so give them a chance. Even if they don't communicate, it's worth trying. You can easily figure out whether a player is terrible or good by simply watching how they perform between mob pulls and after.
