So...
The guy mentioned here. The issue is people queuing for languages they can't communicate in just to get shorter queue times. Completely ignoring the reason you can select the language in the first place. I even came across one person that had the gall to tell the rest of us to learn his language, even though he was the one that selected english on the duty finder in spite of not being able to communicate in it.

Comepletely unrelated but it's nice to see another scot on the forumsDespite being British and living in Scotland...I play on Balmung because pretty much everybody here speaks English. Luckily I don't get any lag at all. When I played on the designated European servers, however, many people didn't speak English and it just frustrated me.\o/

Played on the EU data center for a bit and quickly learned to hate most French players. I think their ability translations are wonky or something, because so many of them just straight up did not know how to play.
Sorry frenchies ;_; but it's true

The reason I liked FFXI was because of the worldwide servers and you could meet many different kind of peeps.
I dont mind if people talk in there own language. But dont force it on anothers. I even learned Alea means Fate. Because they refused too use the autotranslate.
I got scold by French in A5 for asking if they could speak English. It was day 1 of the 3.2 patch and 6 of the 8 people were English.
( I am used to screaming LB peeps so it's no biggie).
It's just frustrating not talk with peeps while playing together. So understand the OP.

I feel you...For me it gets to the point where when we were with 7 english and one French guy the french guy just talks french or ignores everything we say, not using auto translate or trying to communicate. I am not a spelling nazi, I just want to be able to communicate with my fellow players which is sadly made impossible by people not wanting to try.
I've come to dread getting paired with French players.
Even the French players in our FC consider the majority of French players to be bad since most tend to ignore mechanics and only ever speak in French despite flagging themselves as English speaking.
It gets frustrating...
Seeing you are from Moogle i can say you are not alone, i personally dont know anyone who likes frecnhf..ks as 99.9% of time they simply suck no matter what. There are some awesome FR peeps on Moogle but you wont see them in your PF for sure, and thats why its usually better to use DF rather than PF when doing stuff. Im still kinda suprised that FR and DE didnt get their own servers when SE moved datacenter locations, it would have been good for both sides.

I love how most of the people complaining about the French people are... from Moogle, like me. Hell, even my native French-speaking friend from Belgium rolls his eyes really hard every time.
But to be fair, I learned basic French comprehension. I can't speak a lick, don't know how to pronounce ANYTHING, but I learned what these people want from me. After failing class because of Spanish that's relieving.
But you know what my friend REALLY dreads? Germans.
It's kind of hilarious that I, a native German, have super big beef with the French clowns, and he, a native French speaker, has the same beef but with German clowns.
We're a match made in he(ll)aven
