You're right. I'm completely wrong! Specialization is the best!!

In fact, I think it should be implemented for battle classes too! You should only be allowed to equip 3 soul crystals. Don't worry though, if you want to play another job than those 3, you can always buy a new soul for 480 of whatever the highest tome is (450 weekly cap).

Except that not having specialization doesn't stop you from playing your other crafts. And by next patch, you'll most likely be able to make everything you currently can't make.

Master Book IV is proof you're prevented to make the recipes no matter how much effort you put in it and who knows when next patch will happen and IF they'll really unlock those recipes. Also, Specialization on the fighting classes would not prevent you from playing on them either.

Why do these threads keep popping up? Anyways, Specialist limitations were implemented with the economy and socialization in mind. I'd love nothing more than to craft everything I need any time I want throughout the week (Actually I can, I just have to message a friend), but that makes for an unhealthy, stagnant economy with supply outweighing demand much quicker due to potential buyers likely choosing to craft the item themselves rather than purchase it off the MB on top of more potential sellers. Then prices drop closer and closer to material cost until there's no longer any profit to be made from that item and the Endgame market is dead until next patch.

Tl:dr, Working as intended, go make some friends

I just try to ask my neighbor to craft Replica High Allagan Coat of healing for my friend since it's not my spec.

We didn't talked much but now we're good friend, thanks to specialist system

The system also encourage my FC members who always rely on me because I can just craft almost everything for them to level and choose their spec that we're lacking so they can contribute to FC.

On the topic, I agree like Piratecat said that the cost should be able to devided by 50. If I want to buy one soul to change spec, I will have leftover 20 script that can't be used.

90 or 100 ? It's so unreasonable that this request will likely not be taken seriously. I agree, though, the cost is too high.

Any sources or quotes for that? Because it sounded a little different before Heavensward dropped.

The bolded text: Players who want to focus on one crafter will be able to do so, while players who want to use all crafters can also do so. The changes in Heavensward were supposed to be about choice. This system was proposed as a means to help players who don't want to level up all the crafters, not lock out those who do.

No one was stopping people from joining the various crafting linkshells that were floating around prior to 3.0, but now it's fine that our arms are being twisted into doing so?

I think reducing the cost or difficulty of replacing soul crystals is a sensible way to improve what they've done (although I also think 90 is too low), but let's not fool ourselves into thinking this system is all gumdrops and rainbows.

I won't say the specialist system needs to be removed, but it does need to be improved.

Yes I agree. Tired of the camps and black/white approach to this system. I feel that it *sort of* does what it's intended to do but the specialist skills being so bad is somewhat of an elephant in the room. The desire to communicate with other crafters has increased, partly for the wrong reasons. The restriction is arbitrary and contrived but people have made some new friends. I feel that you should be able to craft everything from all 8 classes, but only have access to 1 specialist - and that specialist actually gains +40 craft and +40 control from it's soul crystal. The specialist skills are undoubtedly a huge joke when Maker's Mark and ToT are in the room. But it's too late for changes like that, apparently.

Yeah that bugged me when I saw it as well. "As many" isn't a minority or a majority. It's equal.

The problem is that the inflation in the economy due to an increase in scarcity isn't a good situation either. There needs to be balance between desirability and affordability for the economy to truly be healthy, and the current system doesn't provide that.
