You must be so frustrated all the time looking for the instruments playing the background music in the game ...I get its a video game, but they did go for a sense of realism, I don't know about you guys , but if I play a stereo upstairs, I can't hear it as well downstairs, or in the room over. I'd like the meet the person who has a singular stereo that can fill their whole house with sound.
Juke Box Hero eh? I kinda like the ring to it. But still, there's really tons of room for improvement for the Orchestrion system. As I'd mentioned before, and would raise it here again, I humbly request these changes (which I believe many would agree with me);
1. Give a radio button/check box option to toogle between ambient or directional (virtual) music mode.
2. Get THX to certified the directional music mode (aka upgrade it).
3. Allow players to store 5~10 songs on the jukebox as "Last played" or "Favorites" soundtracks. (Or just give individual jukebox an Orchestion Log as well)
4. For the love of Hydaelyn, please, please do something about CT/ST/WoD music scrolls. Either put one of the scrolls (from each tower) on NPC vendor to be purchase by gil, increase the drop rate to 100%, let it drop directly into inventory at some high drop rate (50% maybe?), make every boss eligible to drop the music sheet or something. Just do something to make it better please.
Hours long queue + 3 faded scroll per tower + non 100% roll-able drop rate + unlimited tradeable faded scroll (which means everyone will roll for it even if they already got them) = may Hydaelyn bless your soul and RNJesus be ever in your favor or go screw yourself over.
Oh, did I mentioned each tower drops 2 different kind of music scroll as well?
I think they need to add 2 options to the UI:
1) 'realistic' sound quality on/off (this would presumably toggle an audio filter that they're using since I can't imagine they'd have added all the extra music files to the game client when higher quality versions exist already).
2) directional audio fader (0% is omni-directional like BGM and 100% is what it is currently).
EDIT: some form of local memory for orchestrions would be pretty nice. I was considering the implications of tying the music to the machine and felt it would be detrimental to players with access to multiple machines and greatly decrease overall interest in collecting rolls, however, a local favorites or history of 5-10 songs would be a very welcome compromise.

Also the loudest BGM I've collected now only "The Dark's Embrace" (Generic dungeon HM's BGM) while the Pharos Sirius is really low.
Lets keep the feedback coming. I was really looking forward to collecting music but the poor quality has really dampened my excitement.
I do understand this feature needs some realism, but please, the directional audio is really complex; make it a stereo sound at all times, even if the volume decreases with some distance
You can't min ilvl sync for it either (not that I would).4. For the love of Hydaelyn, please, please do something about CT/ST/WoD music scrolls. And I just notice the towers doesn't actually drop multiple copies of music scroll per run, if it drop 2 of them it just means that it drop both different scroll from the same tower in that run. /shrugs
I'm glad I purchased the Ishgard roll to try it out in the inn room before I bothered getting an Orchestrion for the FC house. I know some of this has been brought up in this thread by others, but I'm adding my voice.
The sound needs to be projected just the same way the BGM is projected, not like it is now where the music comes through different speakers depending on the direction your character is facing at any given moment. It's distracting, and all that does is make me want to turn it off.
I've only tried it in the inn room, but is the selection not permanent? I selected the music roll and then left the inn room and returned, and the default inn music was back. Why bother if it's not a semi-permanent setting? Honestly, that's just too much hassle. I want to find music I like (Ishgard works) and set it and forget it until I'm tired of listening to it. The Orchestrion should remember which music you have set, and should play it upon your return to the inn room (or house).
Until these issues are corrected, I can't see spending any time at all to collect more music rolls.

I can do that in my house... the whole house is wired for sound with speakers built into the ceiling in every room with a central control. It's not like this is unheard of...I get its a video game, but they did go for a sense of realism, I don't know about you guys , but if I play a stereo upstairs, I can't hear it as well downstairs, or in the room over. Beside that, this is a fantasy video game. The music in this game is exceptional, and we should be able to hear it everywhere with the same quality if we so desire.
