Still haven't seen anyone address how obtaining the BONUS stats from melding is any different than obtaining the BONUS stats from food and potions or how these stats are any more required than food or potions. If you're the kind of person who already doesn't use food and potions you don't need these slots used either... and if you are the kind of person who uses food and potions then you're probably fine with finding crafters to meld for you.

No one has addressed it because it's an over exaggeration.
Potions last all of 10 seconds. The Item system is even worse than the Materia system in this game.
The only potions most folks use are HP & MP restores.
Ailment cleansing is useless as NPCS immediately reapply the ailment.

Food Buffs are mostly used by Crafters & Gatherers.
Battle Jobs use them for the xp buff.
Raiders use them because Savage requires every little boost you can get.
Also Food is readily available by NPCs. Unlike Melding.

Also gear doesn't require you to be fed.
Now if a system were implemented where your character got hungry and received a debuff that could only be cleansed via eating the appropriate lvl food & that food could not be bought from an NPC.
THEN you'd see players get upset.

    Your statement wasn't about math.
You were upset no one took your bait apparently.

If you'd take the gunk out of your eyes and read.
You would see that I acknowledged that Raiders often use them.

I never said they are not beneficial.
Even then. Having an extremely limited Stat boost for 10 seconds is rarely going to make or break an encounter.

Oh insulting people now are we. Crafters recently had to level their crafters from 50 to 60 to meld again and people like you want to be able to do it for free. Complain all you want it's not happening.

Insult? Hardly. The person ignored me completely and took a cheap shot at me. So I responded in turn.

Look at my character before you make assumptions.
I leveled all my crafts to 50 & am saving materials so I can grind them to 60.

I craft myself and I have resented melding since day one.
I also resent the repair feature. It's a PITA to do yourself, takes up valuable inventory space & takes longer than using an NPC.

I often craft to help out new players obtain gear and at reasonable prices.
I often give away HQ sets to new players.
    I also meld for free

So don't you dare mistake me as someone who feels entitled or wants crafter benefits for "free".

That's the standard here in the forums. If you express any opinion on a matter that is in conflict with someone's views, they consider it an ad hominem attack and respond in kind. I could go into the psychology of such behavior but it stems from the feelings of entitlement coupled with no fear of reprisal.

That being said, adding an npc to enable basic melds and adding a crafted melding kit so people can buy the item from crafters and do the meld themselves are both ideas with merit. I was never asking that the service be free in the first place. I was just asking that something be put in place that doesn't require that we have to track another player down everytime a piece of gear drops.

I'm sorry, but 8 months after the level cap raise and the highest crafting class you have is 54 CUL means you do not craft. You might have crafted in the past, but currently you do not actually craft. Also the fact that you think repairing yourself is worse than repairing at a NPC is somewhat laughable. It takes 1 inventory space and takes roughly 2-5 seconds to repair anywhere you please. Going to a NPC requires you to take the time to actually go to the NPC which is more than a few seconds and the NPC also doesn't allow you to go above 100% durability.

At least you actually leveled up the crafts. I'm amazed that you haven't got them to 60 yet however. So I'll give you that.

but I need to point out an elephant in the room.

Grade 6 Dark Matter can repair ANY gears, and you only need one stack.. which is... one slot.

How the heck is THAT an inventory issue...And please don't try with "One spot is still valuable" when...

You have 4 items for the last stage of anima relic

And six items taking up slot for the first stage of anima relic

let's not even forget how there's 12 atmas to collect which could take up a LOT of space, since it takes up a lot of time.

But really, having all crafts at level 50, repairing should be a very very minor inconvenience for you, since you can repair literally where and anytime, including in battle.

My only complaint about repair is that we can't repair other people's gears like we used to in 1.0. This would've been so nice and so helpful to have, especially in raids and farming.

And by the by, it's not THAT hard to get all crafts from 50 to 60. It's harder than 2.0, but not as much. You have multiple methods to level up easily. Leves. GC Turn ins, and collectibles. All of which extremely easy to do. Especially collectibles. You can also use retainers (gathering AND DoW retainers) to farm materials to further help your crafting.
