I should also add, there's been a suggestion made by several people that makes complete sense. Add an npc just like we have repair npcs. Said npc charges for service and cannot do advanced melding. I'd even suggest that it's just one npc placed in Mutamix's camp. Crafting buddy isn't on? Just go to Black Brush and get melds done. Crafters lose nothing with this solution. They still get to be the only ones that can overmeld and, if they're one of the ones that don't charge for this service, still remain the cheapest way to get melding done.

On a side note, calling someone lazy or stupid right off the bat probably isn't the best way to approach conversation on the forums. No one would like it if someone did that to them in IRL and so what makes people think that such behavior is acceptable here too?

Let's add, you don't even have to be ON your crafter to meld or repair. This is simply about convenience. If that makes you seem that it would somehow ruin the game I think you'll find 2 camps here: those who live to craft and don't want ANYTHING taken from them....and those who abhor crafting that just want to socket their materia and get on with playing the game.
While we are at it then, why not make it so that crafting materials that drop off end game raids can now be bought off NPCs? I mean, some crafters absolutely hate PvE stuff and just want to focus on crafting and not have to go into these pesky raids that they have to learn a whole new class/job for just for a chance at an item randomly dropping.

By the way, you can get all your crafting and gathering classes to level 60 in roughly 2 months spending around 5 minutes a day total. Just do your daily GC turn ins and if you want to spend a few extra minutes a day, do your weekly challenge log as well. Not sure where you are getting these hours on hours of grinding from as that only applies if you are trying to max out in as short of time as possible. The same applies to any DoW/M class/job as well, but they require a little more time each day.

I don't think anyone likes how all they ever have is a chance at an item randomly dropping. RNGeesus hates us all equally.

The difference being that people who primarily focus on PvE content are clearing these raids regularly or don't mind running them repeatedly to try and get that item they want. Trust me, I'm in this camp as I prefer to do the PvE content. I managed to level every DoH/L to 60 with minimal effort just doing the GC turn ins and challenge log. Heck, I was also able to buy things off a vendor for cheap to do leve turn ins and then resold the vendor bought items for 2-3 times their value on the MB.

I do however, understand where the crafters are coming from. I know a lot of them and some of them only have a battle class leveled because it was required to do pretty much anything. Gatherers are the same way, they were pretty much forced to level 1 battle class to 60 so they could start working on end game gathering.

But yet, I still have to level my crafts to be able to meld. On top of that, you can't simply level one class to be able to meld everything. Simply leveling one class will not work.

But you STILL have to level multiple your crafts to 50 to be able to repair all gears.

This isn't about conveniences, this is about something that ACTUALLY gave us crafters something to be depended on for service. You don't HAVE to level crafter to meld, but you DO have to ask a crafter to meld for you. Ask your FC mates, ask your friend, shout in Idyllshire or in any cities, you're guaranteed to get a response, and on top of that, MOST nice crafters won't even ask you to pay or lot, I wouldn't be mad if someone just tips me 1000 gil per meld.

So which goes back to the point, we worked extra hard to get to this point and be able to provide services, so again I ask Why SHOULD you have a free pass and conveniently get ability to meld gears, without having to level crafts, just because you're not willing to level crafts?

There is NOTHING that prevents you from taking 5 minutes to ASK someone to meld for you. We worked hard to BE ABLE to do this, not just for ourselves, but for most of us, for other people. I would be MORE THAN HAPPY to help out.

And some crafters actually LIKE doing PVE (and PVP). I enjoy doing everything and being self-sufficient.

This. Leves and GC turn-ins, and collectible stuff will very easy level your stuff. Both crafters and gatherers.

One thing to note, as of 3.2 they made it so you actually don't have to change to your DoH class to meld now.

From the patch notes: "Provided they have the ability to do so, players will now be able to affix materia even if they are equipped as a different class."

That's awesome. I didn't even notice, that, as there's just so much to read lol. Thanks, I corrected my post.

Well, problem is, many people charge. If I got 23k, I'm not giving you 20k just to do one meld.

Then keep asking? There are more people who do melds for free than there are that charge.

Yeah. To be honest, I would never charge 20K per meld. that's insane. However, it's not that hard to make money anyway. I suggest to keep shouting, and finding someone that is fair, and use them as your regular contact for meld services.
