Only if people are afraid of the truth, which is clearly apparent here. You'd have to be blind if you think this isn't a legit problem.

Hundreds of players who have had bad experiences with mentors. The worst example has to be what the OP in the last link said:

"On a few occasions so far, I've seen mentors, after telling people one or two things about the mechanics of a fight, ask that everyone pass a loot drop as they "told us how to do the fight."

I'm not saying there are no issues. I'm saying blanket statements are unwise if you wish to gain support for an idea.
