    It's similar enough despite not having listened to that song in years a lot of people aren't just drawing the connection; several have said their first thought is that SE got Powerman5000 to do it. And as others have said, it's not a homage if there's no clear credit given. That's bad.

    Definitely this. I haven't listened to that song in YEARS and it was my first thought when I heard the new Sephirot song. The song's general age has nothing to do with the fact that people have been able to pluck it immediately with more than a 10+ gap between release date and now.
