Wasn't there some in game lore explaining why anima is gone or is at least not used anymore? Regardless, your idea would make just getting around incredibly annoying, especially with daily quests; I'd spend more time traveling than actually doing the quests themselves.Keep the teleportation, but make them cost anima points instead of gil. And make it that it need 2 hour real time to regenerate 1 anima point.
Teleport within the same region = 3 anima
Teleport to another region = 6 anima
Teleport to a city or to a favourite aetheryte = half the anima prices
It depends on your definition of "content".
To me the story is content and the game is worthless without it. But, as far as dungeons, trials, raids, quests, nine of that was Missed.
Thus why I really can't hold my view on others. The story and lore make up alot of the game but as far as " playable content" you miss nothing by skipping it. I how ever play specifically for the story and everything else is bussy work till new story patches are added.
It worked in 1.0, even before Chocobos and airships came ingame and we had only teleport and our feet to travel.Wasn't there some in game lore explaining why anima is gone or is at least not used anymore? Just form groups and the one with the most anima start the teleport. In some way it was good for group play.
I like teleporting. Couldn't care less about immersion.
If you don't like it, then don't.
Perhaps, but 1.0 was also extremely unpopular and considered by most to be a terrible MMO. There's a reason the Realm had to be Reborn.
Sorry for being snide, I just couldn't resist. 1.0 had some good ideas, but ARR is overall a huge improvement.
If it helps, I find Teleporting extremely convenient, and while I agree that it can hurt my personal immersion, I feel like the benefits far outweigh the downsides. I don't get much time to play, and when I do I'd rather not spend all of it traveling.

I fail to see how group teleporting makes the game more sociable for group play, considering that 2.0 and 3.0 are entirely different beasts compared to 1.0; Nowadays a lot of quests has us running all over the place where everything in between doesn't matter, so I don't really need to have a simple quest take a very long time due to travel. Just imagine people today trying to do the "old school" way of travel with all the quests and fetch stuff we have in the game now.
I know Lore about it exists, I'd just like more of it. I read through and enjoy the story, but sometimes there is lore that one just does not find without really, really, REALLY digging into the game. For the longest time I had no clue that Garleans couldn't use magic, or that Silvertear Lake is supposedly the source of Aether on Hydaelyn. That's not something that comes up in the course of Side-Quests or the MSQ. I remember the arguments about how long Colonial Sharlayan has existed on Eorzea, but we finally got an answer in that with the MSQ thanks to Y'Shtola.
An example to this discussion, is that I've read that not everyone can use the Atherytes, that some people don't have the aetheric levels to support using it. I imagine the Thaumaturge Guildmasters' little brother would be such an example, but I've seen debates ranging from, "You have to be Warrior of Light tier to use it ICly," to, "Anyone and their mother can use it, merchants and normal folk just prefer to save gil!"
Then I hope you have a plan to make each quest have meaningful content to justify the padding you want back.
This thread reminds me of the "Flying or not Flying" discussion on the WoW Forum.
Maybe the OP is a former WoW player who was against flying. Will it be your next request?
We know what happend to WoW when they prohibited flying, lost over 1 mill Players. Of course it wasn't the only reason but a main reason, at least for me as a quitted WoW and I never returned.
So, be careful what you wish for you just might get it.
