Had a player show up in Neverreap who was an Archer. Intentionally an Archer. Ironically, I can't tell you the player's name, but it involved the word "Archer" and was I'm guessing the whole gimmick. When I asked why, they said something along the lines of "If you're worried about DPS being slow, you not doing anything makes it even slower." I was willing to give it a shot, but with that sort of response.... They're purposely making the content take longer. I dropped. Maybe I should've stayed, but after running like 100 Neverreaps the last thing I want to do is spend extra time there.

I've been grouped with that person, though they actually did pretty well, used a lot of cross class skills that made up for the lack of job crystal. was overall an enjoyable run with em.... Granted you could have met someone else entirely but yeah

The cross-class skills really can't "make up for" the lack of a job crystal with the 50-60 skills being locked behind it.

it's one of those opinion things, I feel. I prefer having job crystals, myself, but I'm not gonna really fault someone else for feeling otherwise, so long as my run isn't slowed down considerably, I don't care if someone plays as a job or class, really, and in the instance I referred to, it felt like the run was just as fast as usual, so I didn't mind it, it's why I said the person the guy I responded to could have been someone else entirely with the same character name was a possibility, or maybe I just got lucky, I dunno, really.

Some can play better than your average DF schlub with no job stone, I've only run into one though.

While it is true that someone could play better without their jobstone than over half of the players in DF. They could have been doing even more damage had they not chosen to purposefully gimp themselves.

If you want to run stuff as a class instead of a job thats fine. Just keep it to PF or friends.

To be honest they probably are a nice person. Except I don't think I was in the mood for it. I can't tell someone how to play the game, but I'm sorry there is no amount of cross class abilities that are going to make up for Wanderer's Minuet or the other advanced skills they missed out on going up from 30-60, plus the loss of damage from not being able to equip BRD-specific gear.

As you said, however, could be anybody I guess. Honestly, though, just as a player may choose to play the game however they want, the fact that it unavoidably is an absolute detriment can't be argued against. If I showed up in the instance, then equipped level 10 gear because "that's my play style" it is a detriment to the party. It just is. It isn't that I fault a person for finding a way to play the game that is fun, it just disrupts my game because their play style is an active detriment. I don't care if they want to roleplay a magical fairy Knight who needs to kill the vundu to save their imaginary wife, that isn't a detriment. I don't care if they spam the chat in-character, that isn't a detriment. Actively entering into content weaker than you actually should on purpose is a detriment.
