How to Handle RP Raiding Players

While recently running unsynced older content, a player has been joining that is gimping his dps intentionally. The raids themselves are easier now, but strong dps will of course help skip several mechanics and push us past any problems we might run into. This player however is not only a weak dps, but also wears gear at level 60 that wasn't even BiS at the end of 2.0 when people were farming the content. In some cases this is fine, but when its a dps check to skip mechanics it clearly is a problem. I have asked nicely, then firmly, then locked them out of my parties by having the item level too high. This however led to them still joining by switching 1 piece out just to meet ilvl and switching back.

As we keep ending up in parties together for raiding such content, with other players are frustrated as well, I am at a loss of how to proceed. Should I blacklist so they cannot join my parties? Should I continue to ask them to change their gear?

I'm not sure what that has to do with roleplayers. Most of the RPers I know strive to be good at endgame so they can farm all the glamour items and gear. (Not to mention, unlock all the areas and get lore from quests).

It sounds like you've encountered a bad player. Or perhaps a troll. If they are intentionally playing poorly and not wearing the correct gear, you could try to report them for harassment and kick them from the party. Other members of the party would likely need to initiate a kick if yours is on timer. Sadly though, the DF has no issue in matching a kicked player back into the party they were kicked from, which should probably be filed as a bug.

If it's known he will "harass" the party by intentionally gimping his dps and gear just kick him at the moment he tries to join your party in PF, blacklist him. He is a troll. He had his chance to explain himself and he doesn't responed so just kick out of the party if he joins again. And report him for griefing and harassment, perhaps.

Why others and myself suspect him of being a RPer is the fact that he does glam his gear, however he specially wears 1 piece that is 110. He also does thing like walking to treasure maps from Foundation to Sea of Clouds in stead of teleporting or even flying.

He doesn't seem like a troll since he does do the mechanics, he does clear with us, and he does talk with us. I think he just equips the gear just to give himself a challenge or that is his character he plays.

Except you can't queue an in-progress if you get kicked. Was a patch or two ago. And yes, there are definitely RPers who gimp their DPS for the sake of RP; sure, they're also trolling, but when they say that they're RPing so they can't use X-abilities, guess where the blame goes.

As for OP, just Blacklist them if they're being a problem. And if its a PF they're joining, just kick them from your party and report them for harassment if they rejoin.

Block list him and move on with your life please.

Also if you are 8 manning old 2.0 content, and the DPS of 1 person is holding you back on phase skipping as you say. I would not be looking at this 1 person, I would look at the entire team to begin with. Old content can be 4 to 6 manned without issues.

No. It is never ok to gimp your gear when playing with random people. There are no cases where this is fine.

And what I'd do is simply blacklist them. If they are going to continue doing what you have said then simply put I dont want them in content with me.

Also I wouldn't link this to RP players raiding as most have the common sense to not RP in DF or when clearing content. And if they do RP in duties its always with a RP group. This guy is just an idiot.

As others have said, best solution is to Black list them, then they can't join your PF at all, it'd be greyed out to them.

A lot of their behavior is reportable as griefing. I would've blacklisted them long ago.
