The precident was set back in 1.0 the previous years event items would be with the event NPC's who handed out the rewards for the new years events, over time making the events themselves more filled with content. 2.0 was the start of the cash shop where the idea was set forward from day 1 weather it was implemented or not the plans to carry it forward were obvious as soon as they stopped releasing the old event items with the new years events.

Want a FFVII remake? Good buy it in chunks instead of a full game, I guarantee you the final product with be a smaller game for more money with little innovation.

I hope the final will be 5 blue-rays big (3 blue-rays minimum) if they really put everything from the original in it (not only the storyline, but also all the mini-games in top graphic).
And little innovation is good. It would be bad if it change too much from the original (some people have already problems about the more dynamic and less static battle system in the trailer).
