Because the people that post, rightfully complaining about giving others piggyback rides, will never get through to the people that they need to... because those people dont post on boards or even browse online... if they did, they might not be so terrible.
So we are left preaching to the ones that already know they have no desire to do better because how dare anyone imply they aren't good enough/great/gettingTheirSubsWorth/etc.

I can live with mistakes and an inperfect rotation. But I don't tolerate willfull ignorance. For example: A DRK in Dusk Vigil with an ilvl 47 weapon

I refuse to adapt to this kind of behaviour. Theres no excuse for it. Doing anything more than auto attack alone would get me aggro as MNK. But I didnt pull my punches (pun) to make absolutely clear that the problems this caused were on HIS end, and that he frankly had no business being in that dungeon at the time. Sure, I couldve just left. But this guy needed to get the facts spelled out to him. He's not going to learn otherwise. Eventually he was kicked because he went into foul language defensive mode as soon as he was asked why he just didnt buy a ilvl 115 white weapon.

My point is, some people need tough love. Their feelings are going to get hurt. But they need to lose the training wheels and put on the big boy pants. Theyre not playing alone, theyre hindering other people who DO make an effort.

To the best of their abilities. Again lets use the OP post as an example. If you cannot press the button to give yourself the buff enochian you are either not trying and being lazy or somehow gotten to this stage in the game without understanding what a buff is.

Forgetting everything there is to do with Fire/blizzard 4 enochian is not hard. Pop it get 5% or whatever the %. Thats it. If you aren't even popping enochian just for the increase in damage then you're obviously not even attempting to do as best as you can.

Wanna go into this new dungeon? Its no walk in the park. Youre going to have to prove that you're up for the task. Theres other players that depend on you. You're a DPS, try killing this dummy within the time limit. Cant do it? Other people can. Try harder! Can't figure it out? maybe you can ask other people for help. I'm sure someone out there would want to be your mentor and give you some advice.

They won't.

I'm sure any solution they implement will be targeted at people well below level 60 and simply won't filter up to players that didn't bother to learn in the first place.

Healers that don't get that they should CC, DPS during down time, and support are common; DPS that don't learn the new portions of their rotations, eat excessive damage, and miss mechanics are common; Tanks that pull/position improperly, don't utilize cooldowns, don't maximize damage, gear improperly, and can't keep hate are common; and that is all there is too be said.

If you want better players - expect better play.

Be a community - teach those willing to learn and push their boundaries.

I think the cleats and tennis shoes thing is backwards...i think, i may have read it wrong but it doesn't sound right the 3rd time i read it for some reason. Anyway yes and no...... I think. Most of the analogies people make for these are for situations much more dire for whats going on. Not to mention in soccer when your running most of the time theirs no way in hell your keeping up with your team in ski boots and you'd be out ran by anyone, most likely being behind the team at every chance you get. I think a good analogy would be like a soccer player not deflecting a ball with his head and won't ever take the chance to do that when a ball flies by his face, but he kicks and takes passes well. Kinda like that.......I wonder if there's a rule against holding the ball with your pecs. That'd be impressive. : O

Since sports analogies are unpopular, how about this:

You do a group project in a college class with 3 other people. You set deadlines and goals and 3 of you meet them, but 1 doesn't. They don't care because it's a low level college class and they'll never see you again. The 3 of you pick up for their lack of effort and get the group an A or a B, since you don't want to get a poor grade, thus earning the slacker an A or B as well. They go onto other classes and never see you again. (I'm sure this has happened to a few of us on this forum.)

But this is a video game! There aren't real people controlling the other players! You should only consider yourself!




Unless of course one of the other "players" is lower performing, then you must defend them to the death if anyone suggests that they try to learn their role.
