Sadly, that's what I think will happen, too
I doubt we'll have large/ seamless open world the instant that PS3 support is discontinued. If anything the UI might be slightly improved, but I am not sure what people would expect?
Well said. I bought my Vita on launch day right as the store opened and I was even late for work that day. I don't regret anything. It's a great product, people are just blinded by biased media and opinions. Specially since Nintendo was dominating the handheld market. I personally feel that PSVita has more high quality games than the 3DS and I am saying that owning two 3DS and Vita.If you soberly analyze Vita, it's a very good mobile gaming platform, and quite well priced compared to $600 smartphones. I guess that's why people only play free to play games on phones, but buy real games on Vita. Vita is a good product, that was rather unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival, by a gleefully vindictive gaming media and anti-Sony community in the West. That is it's biggest problem.
You're right.
Something like "Why can't we have zones like in 1.0 ?" (i.e huge and painfully empty)
Yep, such a greeeeaaaaaaat loss, damn those PS3 players and their subpar hardware...
PS3 has a limited display count of 30, of which an alliance takes up the majority of those slots. We can't have any broad alliance content since they have to design the encounters with that limit in mind, otherwise PS3 users are going to have trouble with characters/enemies popping in and out of existence which may affect their contribution.

^This. FFXIV was promised to come to PS3 back since 1.0, and it was stated that they would not break that promise. They had already damaged the trust of the playerbase and could not afford to do so any further.Other than the obvious fact that the PlayStation 4 wasn't even out when ARR launched, and the PlayStation 3 already had a large market compared to a platform that had yet to be released, they promised 1.0 on PS3 and that backfired spectacularly. ARR releasing on PS3 was simply fulfilling that promise.
I also remember Yoshi saying that Heavensward would be the last expansion to be released on PS3? I expect that means they will likely maintain support for original ARR and Heavensward areas, but no future expansion content will be accessible for PS3.

Really I hope they drop ps3 support soon cause its like such an outdated console that is majorly holding this game back.
Why dosent it look much better on ps4 compaired to ps3 you say? the simple answer is the fact that the game is the same just made for simple console compatability.
example think playing a ps3 game on your ps4 does it look any better?
I rest my case.
To claim that the PS3 isn't holding back the game at all is a bit of a stretch. Obviously it is.
However to claim that the game would improve dramatically is also a bit of a stretch.
The ps3s graphical capabilities aren't what people refer to when they claim it's holding the game back. 99% of the time they're referring to problems that arise due to the ps3s limited 512mb of RAM, which is a very serious limitation on a game of this scopeReally I hope they drop ps3 support soon cause its like such an outdated console that is majorly holding this game back.
