Isn't that the door to Snowcloak ?
One can only wish! From the look of it, the part poking out could potentially be the back end of a Ragnarok, the tip of the "hilt" if you will as the cluster looks very similar to one of the known Ragnarok shapes hilts.
There's also that crater at Lower La Noscea that was made by a part of Dalamud, whether it was a Ragnarok or not, who knows; But supposedly has had people go into... and not return.
You know, after what Alisaie said in T5 about how Ishgard would love the technology to enslave dragons, I always expected Boulder Downs to become a plot point in Ishgards battle with Nidhogg... Who knows, maybe part of Dalamud was a tower that oppressed Bahamut...
I remember back in my innocent, First-Coil days working my way through the story thinking "Wow! This is totally gonna factor into the expansion!" Thus far we've had dragons and Garleans and Allagans but nary a mention of whatever the XIVth excavated from Eastern La Noscea.

That's... very logical now that I think about it.
It's an anti-tower, it fits in every way - It isn't like a normal tower that reaches to the heavens, it actually came from the heavens, and instead of spiraling up from the ground it is spiraling down into the ground - And if it came from Dalamud, the Ragnarok's seemed to be slightly different, and each had a different function (aside from Primal regeneration and binding decks) supposedly, one could have been used as an anti-purpose something or other.
You mean the exit to Snowcloak? That's an interesting possibility. It's a pretty dramatically long distance away from the Snowcloak dungeon, but it would definitely make sense given the general direction.
Honestly, I don't remember if anyone mentions it in-game though. I know that they said the heretics covered their escape when they fled Snowcloak, but the last thing I remember is the Npc's leading a totally pointless search of the caverns as we went off to do important work somewhere else.
Tell me about it. That's not the only one that has been swept under the rug, either.I remember back in my innocent, First-Coil days working my way through the story thinking "Wow! This is totally gonna factor into the expansion!" Thus far we've had dragons and Garleans and Allagans but nary a mention of whatever the XIVth excavated from Eastern La Noscea.
Anyone remember the ruins in Carteneu Flats? I believe the word "Omega" was mentioned at some point. Both of these are nothing more than footnotes at this point. Which is ridiculous because that very same lore is the reason that PvP Q's are crippled, and SE refuses to fix the problem regardless of the fact that they've pretty much written both of these things out of the game.
I wouldn't assume everything has been tossed to the side. We've had quite a few plot points that were available at an early point that still haven't been resolved or even mentioned again. The Zodiark vision at the end of 2.0, for example. Actually, why we never mentioned that to the Scions is a question in and of itself.
That being said, I would prefer if these plot points were resolved before we leave Eorzea, but I wouldn't rule them out entirely just yet.
Very belated Edit: Though, to be honest, I do feel like tying Omega to PvP basically made it a bit of a wasted plot point. Even if they continue with the plot, they could have done so much more with it. It's basically going to end up open-ended due to the nature of PvP in general.

Yeah ... Omega is very deeply tied to the PvP story. I think someone jokingly said that Omega will be involved in PvP: kill __ parts to win -_-
