The tome cap needs to be abolished. Period. I want to gear Drk, Brd, Nin, Smn, and Blm for example. Ok so in this example we will say, because I am unsure of the exact number, that I need 825 tomes to get the eso chest piece for any one of those jobs. So 5 x 825 is 4,125. I can get 450 Esos a week. So in this example it will take 10 weeks....TEN weeks just to get the Eso chest for each of these jobs. Now what about the Weapon, Head, Hands, Waist, Legs, Feet, Earrings, Necklace, Wristbands, and Rings???

Is this example enough to prove that the cap on tomes should be abolished?

Even if I ran dungeons for tomes as much as possible to attempt to fully gear all 5 of these jobs, it would still take a very long time to fully gear all 5 of these jobs in Eso gear. In fact, unless I quit my job and totally neglected my wife and child, I see me being able to fully gear all 5 jobs just in time for the gear to become irrelevant, and esos to become the secondary tome currency. I estimated that at 20 minutes per dungeon needing 4,125 tomes would require 104 dungeon runs, at 40 tomes per run, which would put me at 4,160 tomes. Soooooo 104 dungeons x 20 mins a run is 2080 minutes divided by 60 = 34.66 hours of continuous play just to get the Eso chest for 5 jobs. With the legs being the same Eso cost that would be another 34.66 hours for a total of 69.33 hours, and that's only two eso pieces for 5 jobs. Factor in the time it would take to get all of the other Eso pieces and removing the weekly tome limit becomes a no brainer if we are to be allowed to gear all the jobs we want in a world where we have an armoury system and can be any job on one character.

So, again, what is the point of having a weekly cap on tomes? ø.Øa

I think part of the point here is that they are not basing the cap on gearing 5 jobs, they are basing it gearing one job.

When developing a game where your customers can play as 13 DoW/DoM classes it should most definitely be taken into consideration that said customers are going to have an interest in gearing more than one job with their character.

This has been a big thing for me. I would LOVE to level up more jobs to 60, but I just don't have it in me to grind for months to gear them all properly. It seems like by the time you finish gearing several jobs, they roll out a new tome and so you get to start over again.

For the record, I generally do not mind grinds at all. But with this game, it's a combination of the grind being completely mind-numbing (spam the same 2-3 dungeons with random people who almost always ignore you) along with rewards that do not last long at all (new tomes sets being released quite often).

I personally would love to just be able to cram my gear grinding into a shorter amount of time so that I can actually do other content with said jobs.

Changing it so that the weekly cap is per job vs. everyone would help tremendously. If people want to spam tomes, let them! It's not like players can really get that far ahead in this game as each patch comes with a new max iLvl..

And a wee bit off topic, but it completely amuses me that this forum STILL have a cap of the posts you can make daily. I suppose it may help cut back on spam, but much like other caps we find in game, it's just an easy way to deal with a problem without actually addressing it :X
