This is not the point. As a crafter and citizen of Eorzea, I want to contribute to world. Give us crafters Company quests that asking us to make "Ul'dahn Longbow" as a quest item. In this way, when we see someone equip "Ul'dahn Longbow", we know we have done something good for our role in Eorzea and not feel being left out from it.

Have a bit of a story related to that, Might be a bit long.

Many many moons ago I was talking with a friend via ventrillo. We were both running locals at the time. Some how the conversation got onto hamlet defense battles and then back to how silly it was to be making all the buckles, bandannas, and all the other stupid crap you churn out for locals.

He got quiet for a couple seconds then said, You know what would be cool Griss? If we got a quest to make Armor weapons and other things for the hamlets and when you ran out to the hamlet to turn it in, it actually effected something. like any npc's defending got a little bonus to damage or defense or had more hp. Or it made certain buffs available to players. I had to agree with him.

I know i only speak for my self here, But that's why i get into crafting in these types of games. The idea that something that I created helping out another player even if i never have any other contact with them other then the transaction. Well it just gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling.
