How are people dealing with this? Just biting the bullet? Sucking up to crafters and hoping they're feeling charitable?

price for all the crafting item on Ragnarok? around 4.8m gil (around 300k as single price).
Gil i can earn within a week? around 1m gil
Gil on my character? around 28m gil

check the MB daily, only buy it if you find the price as ok (like if you can get the gil back within 1 or 2 weeks)
craft some stuff to earn gil. don't have to be a high level craft, just something that sell good like nuggets or void glue.

Took a look at my server, it's around 300k for the CUL/CRP item, 700k for the BSM/ALC item. You'd run yourself for 8mil or so if you were to buy the items.

8 million?? Ok I am giving up on Relic. Yeeeeep, relic. Definitely not in my budget. All the things we have to farm is already a burden.

Fortunately the prices are much cheaper on Balmung. It's about 2 mil for us (give or take). That's one of the benefits of being on a populated server. More people means more competition, therefore prices tend to be lower. However, the people out there on lower pop servers are going to have a hard time. That's why I think it's bad design to include something like this in the relic quest.

On Balmung (even with a lot of players and Crafters gone) the items have stabizrd at about 100k per item. The Stacks of 4 selling for just over 400k.

So Legacy Prices seem to be the Lowest

Its about 1.7 mil on balmung now.

I only paid about 3.7mil on balmung day 2 of the relic release.

Or hell, go level your gatherers and get your own mats. People will craft them for you on the cheap if you have the mats, if they don't just do it for free. The quest text straight up tells you to work with other people. If you're buying straight from the MB you're doing it wrong.

Lol, kidding aside, I just networked with other crafters. A lot of crafters are willing to do it for tips alone if you provide mats. I've been crafting the base materials that I can craft for FC mates and static members, and in return they run interference for me in Diadem (helping me get flight and dragging mobs off nodes for me). Other members of my static and FC have other specializations so we just trade. The two specializations we didn't have available (CRP and CUL) I just put up PF's to find someone.

On siren the crafted portion comes just shy of 8m gil. While personally I can afford it I'm not sure I want to fork over that kind of gil for +2 weapon damage.

People insisted that the prices were gonna drop by the time the grind was over but at least on NA servers it has stabilized at some pretty ridiculous prices.

8m might be the worst case scenario if you have 0 ressources... no crafter, no friends, no will to communicate with other people, nothing

most people will get the items for a quarter of your expenses :s

Jenova is around 1.5 mil per stack of four so it's still a bit pricy, especially for a server as poor as ours. Everything in that MB is made by like ten people. The fun part is that the high end gear is also made by about ten people, so trying to even get to the point where you can guarantee an HQ craft on them is also dictated by the top tier crafters. A HQ Forgemaster's hammer for instance is roughly 8 million, and the 170 gear sits around the same price.

A HQ Forgemaster's hammer for instance is roughly 8 million, and the 170 gear sits around the same price.

All you need to HQ the items is the i180 Red Scrip gear, though, with HQ i150 stuff for the other slots. You don't even need that much, since the items are 1-star, rather than 2-star, but that gives you a pretty good HQ chance. The i170 crafted stuff isn't necessary at all.
