    Also if I remember correctly, Yoshida said there would be only 1 job per expansion from this point forward. The reason why the last 3 were messes was because the team didn't have enough manpower to balance 3 entire new jobs and fine tune them before launch. He said they would limit it to 1 job and that way it won't get released as an unholy mess.

    If they only release a single new job though, that will completely bork duty finder queuing...oh wait, everyone will just fate spam anyhow.

    I don't recall him mentioning they would limit to 1 job only. What he said was they won't release 3 at once. Meaning 2 is still possible.

    The issue with 3 jobs in Heavensward is rooted back that 4 were in development. Ninja came out in 2.4, and the stress of finishing and balancing Ninja on top of the load of 3 other jobs was too much.

    Yoshida hinted the Moonfire Faire had a hint towards the amount of new jobs at the anniversary stream. He's also stated he wants Samurai, but held back on slapping it in HW since we had just gotten a Japanese inspired job with Ninja.

    As for Ala Mhigo being the next city, it certainly seems that their liberation is our next goal. Whether or not Ala Mhigo is the new city-state, or the new Mor Dhona/Idyllshire town is what I'm wondering.

    There was the whole thing about how it takes a year to make a job and that with Heavensward, they had to do triple the work in that time. They said that between that WHILE making Rogue/Ninja, they said all of that was something they never wanted to do again.

    Given that they've had more than that much time to come up with new job details (one year for 3.x v. almost two for 4.x) and that they likely have some sort of template for job design by now (at least tanks and healers) that it seems HIGHLY unlikely that we'll just get two jobs unless they put far too many resources into something else.

    I expect 3 jobs to be honest. 1 tank, 1 melee DPS, 1 healer, that would give us 4 tanks, 4 melees, 4 ranged and 4 heals. We all know how the FFXIV dev team likes balance in all things.

    It also allows for nice even splits like.
    2 MT
    2 OT
    2 DPS melee DPS
    2 support melee DPS
    2 DPS ranged DPS
    2 support ranged DPS
    2 Main healers
    2 Off healers
    And further splits like.
    1 high skill tank
    2 average skill tanks
    1 easy mode tank
    and so on.

    I just have to ask... how is Samurai a fitting a choice for Ala Mhigo?

    Granted, we didn't especially have much of a lore excuse for adding in a massive wave of Au'ra either (save for one character meant, iirc, to be among the relatively few surviving members of her race), but at least the jobs fit Ishgard well enough.
    I'm not saying they were inherently based in Ishgard, only that the concerns of their own politics or philosophies (AST and DRK respectively) meshed well enough with what concepts Ishgard put out. Would the same be true of SAM? What connection do you see?

    E.g. is it Doman influence carrying over from the last addition?
    Or are we really imagining Old English Hyurs donning lamellar (or dressed down in just cloth, if you prefer) and whipping out katanas?...

    If that's the impetus for adding the jobs, then I think we can be pretty sure we'll be seeing the exact same "<class> reskin" comments from before (e.g. Dark Rampart, Wanderless Barrel, WHM Sect). If they're intending each to add only to a very particular rank and file, they're scarcely adding options at all. Generally they add little more than choice of aesthetic.
