    Thanks for the reply but, lol I was being sarcastic, and actually yes, right now we have the mix matched cross crap which isn't terrible in thought, but not played out well. Ideally right now there is no reason to be a Tank in this game besides for maybe DH. As a GLA you are a waste of space that another Archer could fill.

    Jobs are coming to ffxiv, Pld, Mnk, Blm, Whm, Drg, Brd, (missing one?) which is a good thing. The cross class thing should be kept for soloing although right now I wouldn't see a reason to fully use the new jobs regardless.

    My example being:
    Me as 37 Gld 3 Archers 1 Con 1 Thm and a Lnc go out to kill Raptors. We get our very short buffs and run rapidly towards the raptors ready to blaze in a furry like no other. The Gla and Lnc leap into the air ready to bring down this vile raptor but as they are about to land a strike, 6 Arrows and a Scourge II whizz pass and decimate the poor raptor. The Gla and Lnc both got max SP but are worthless, they sigh and try again and again.. It happens.

    Now granted I could take no Archers, well actually I couldn't because 9/10ths of the populace are indeed archers.

    There is a lot of things to look forward to in ffxiv and some major flaws. As much as I love the FF series, XIV will never have what XI did because of the two main things it tries to do. People played XI because there was nothing close to it, people will not play XIV because it is nothing new. The WoW crowd won't and a good portion of my 7 years in ffxi friends wont play it because its too much heading in that general theme. Even though Abyssea and Astral Burns are terrible heaps and I myself don't play ffxi either anymore.

    FFxiv is heading in the route of WoW, Rift ect. If i'm going to pay for a MMO like those two, It will be something that does what they do well. FFxiv does not do it well even though its trying.

    I think they look right for the setting an such, an we know about much more impressive ones..
    They are maybe little small but I cant be sure till we get up close to them.

    Personally i would love to see them update and improve as the story moves along, or maybe new ones added for the City States own fleets as we get more locations and things.
    - Could have a few months with story content based on helping the city states build new combat based ones.
    - Add Player Built ones for Companies if we get them, with mass PvE/PvP missons to unlock and do(ship<>ship combat ! )
    - Grand Company missions taking an airship with npcs into deep locations and things.

    I have mix feeling about the OP and the subject in general. Chocobos are more focused at this time compared to air-ships (or air-canoes). They're nothing fitting the surrounding level of technology as other air-ships from previous FF installments (they actually fit the role and function and technology by leaps and bounds).

    Well, if we want something to improve about the airships, we need to suggest it to SE either now or the looong awaited future because once FFxiv become retail, they'll have their hands full (or either take a loong vacation).

    WTF does the air-ship(canoe) have to be so small, should I ask? Is it because it's suppose to be fast?? I always enjoyed air-ships because it took me ANYWHERE... I saw the sights, I walk the deck of the ship and still able to chat with friends. If there was actually something to do on the ship, it would not just be a choice of transportation but serve a function and be an experience while seeing your surrounding from up HIGH.

    If only FFxiv airships was as impressive as the begining ship we saw from the opening cutscene during the tutorial. What happen to the creativity of the DEV team?? IMO, airships was the landmark if not a monumental step to adventure and progressing through your quest to save the world!

    "Wow, hurray... I can now ride a ...canoe ...in the air, will we all fit on this thing??"

    I think there's more mobs in the sky to take advantage of and farm skill points and experience. Where's my bow, imma shot at one and kill the voulcher! >=3

    While the airships in 1.19 will feature cutscene-only, quick transport, there are future plans for being able to move around aboard the airship and enjoy the scenery while flying to your destinations. We are also planning on adding airship-related content, such as quests and other things to do.

    For now, please enjoy airships as a method of transportation and look forward to what’s coming! ^_^

    go to the lower section of gridania adv guild and wait. you'll see an airship pull up and leave already. been doing it for months now.

    they could use a lil more detailing in the basic concept design/art. some engraving along the sides, perhaps some form of identification on the sides of the "balloons" like how busses have route numbers ect, perhaps a flag and a few nice lanterns that would show other airships they're approaching another in the night sky.

    these sort of details seem to have been slightly overlooked. but maybe once they're ridable asthetic changes will be made to the exterior of the airships too

    @ Secret_reeve Aye I've seen it, but you cant get close up really, and I was hoping the ones in game atm are place holders with less detail, but we will see soon.

    By the way - Most of Vana`diel is fairly low technology in present time as well with the exception of the Zilarts and those in Aht Urhgan. They even chose against a monorail system in XI because it was "too high tech for the world".

    So yeah comparing designs is actually acceptable given both games are low technology.

    The airships in 11 are of Zilart design or at the very least Zilart influence, since the biggest contributor to their design was the archduke, so it would make sense that they are high tech.

    They also probably just customized actual boats for it since they land in the water =P

    BTW (not intended for the above poster)... it takes a lot more time/effort to make up a new design than reuse an old one.
