Airship downgrade?

It's going to be temporarily cutscene transport, what part of that do you people not get?

that has nothing to do with what the op is stating... he is saying the airships look bad compared to others...yes your not going to be able to physically ride them for a wasted 10 minutes everytime i travel....but still they look like crap compared to others....which in all honesty im just happy to have them at all at this point in this mmo...

Compared to Garlean , Eorzea is pretty back water.
These airships fit the setting.
Maybe in future expansions we'll be getting into more hightech or magitech type cities.

To give some scale... not every sailboat is a Frigate.

There are Schooners, there are Galleons, Caravels, why should airships be any different?

My sincere hope is that sometime down the road we will be able to make personal or linkshell owned Airships, in which case it would be nice if we had a little variety.

so im pretty ok with the things they have and the things that need waiting & work. I was attracted to FFonlines (or any square game for that matter) because Square has one of the most original and detailed designs out of any other mmo's that i seen. i know this cant be compared to XI but from the beautiful graphics i thought the designs would be more ...i guess more well thought out?.... ;x

The past airships seem to have alot of detail while the XIV one seems like huge patches of...shapes stuck together

I agree that they are not as impressive as the XI ones, but I think they'll look a little better close up (just more rugged than XI's). These ones weren't made by Cid and in this game we are the technological underdog so hopefully we will see some better ones later on (like the one the dragon destroys in the intro).

Maybe Ishgard has all the cool airships.

I love that the OP post what i think is a pretty valid point with pictures of a bunch of airships from differant FF's and some ppl only pick up on and hate on the XI one, i'm gonna defend the XI one before i go any further, the XI one was built by Cid and he can make anything work, he could even make a helicopter out of Chuck Norris if so wished. thinking about it i'm actually i'm not defending the FFXI airship i defending Cid to hate on somthing he built is to hate on him.

Anyway, form the pictures posted about the XIV airship and only bassed on pictures (i know the finial product could be complely diffrent) i agree there's not that detailed in comparrison. i like the idea of the new FFXIV design but it needs that FF feel to it.

could be the pictures are just the basic shapes without all the little details added yet, guess we'll find out in a week or so

jobs in 14 are nothing like jobs in 11, you dont even have to lvl them. what we have now with cross classing skills is actually closer to 11 then jobs will be.

i'm ok with how it looks, though if there ever was plans for content on them then yeah they could of probably been way bigger like other ff boats and ships.
