Sure it probably won't directly increase interest, but it will increase participation. So more people actually get to try it, rather than sitting in square waiting for a match for 20 minutes, then saying "meh, this sucks."
This. And that would also likely lead to loss of attrition (players won't just give up for finding the game unplayable), which then means the word of mouth will be generally more positive, and therefore people won't shy away from it, thus, increase interest. It's pretty much math.
Why would we need a precedent anwyho? It's not like we're talking about a trial involving old historic laws. It's a game.
The devs just have to do it how Chocobo racing queue works. Cross-Server, but still in the Gold Saucer. And a NPC as opponent if there is no other player at that time.
Not really.
It can work like "go to the dungeon entrance and start the queue. Then you can do whatever you want during the queue, so long you don't change the zone."

This change isn't supposed to increase interest in these minigames, but rather increase participation in them, because not everyone wants to set aside time of waiting in the minion square when they can be doing something else. Just imagine if the same were done for dungeons, people would be bored out of their mind because it forces them to stay in the same area until the queue is found, which will lead to people saying "Why cant I gather/craft/do fates while waiting for a dungeon? Waiting for a dungeon in a single spot is stupid and i'd much rather do something meanwhile im waiting."

I liked waiting outside dungeons and finding my own groups for them. Made them FAR more rewarding. Ah, there is no point now.
Nobody wants to do it because they don't do parties. Parties are also punished by less exp/reward.
"You can still do it." however you get less gil, less experience, less reward, and its harder.
So, there is really no point to doing it.
Huh? Parties get the same reward if queuing for a specific dungeon IIRC. I think you can even do the higher roulettes as a party and get the bonus, I know for a fact expert works with three people at least. Granted, people not wanting to do parties is a different story.
You get a gil bonus for using duty finder actually. You also get an experience bonus, you also get a "do x amount of duties" to get even more experience. People also don't want to do parties when there is a much faster (in their mind(s)) way. You also get rewarded for doing it where you don't for partying up.
There are some instances that don't even let you limit break unless you have duty finder.
You also can't just "go inside a dungeon" you have to go through the duty finder to even go in.
This game, face it. It is NOT meant to party up at all.
Every. Single. Quest. In the game, was made for soloing besides a few.
Open World is completely solo, nothing requires a group.
Cause this would make the gold saucer pointless as much of the game already is, cause everyone just stands around in one place and uses DF for everything.
