Why do so many people FAIL at dps.

Those are definitely places to complain. Any content above level 50 is, really. By then people should at least know the very basics of their jobs and it's certainly a problem that a lot of level 60s still don't know these absolute basics.

I think you missed the part where I said as long as they aren't just auto attacking and the content is being cleared without wipes (or a lot of dum wipes anyway). Even if someone's dps is subpar if the content is being cleared smoothly I don't see any reason to complain. If anything give them advice on how to improve and if they are hostile or ignore you then leave the group.

*sigh* Sadly we did wipe 2 times doing add phase, I couldn't pick up his damage and we died by fire blast before shield come up which added to the frustration of my rant.

Well that sucks. That is pretty bad, yeah with ilevel 200 gear I can definitely understand your frustration. I know you asked him why he didn't use GB but did you try to explain to him why the way he was doing it wasn't right? If so and he just refused to listen I'm really sorry you had to go through that. I'm sorry about my first post on this thread as well, at the time given the way your posts were worded it felt justified but your attitude has changed a lot already. I definitely could have offered something more constructive. I do agree with your overall rant that some dps just suck; in my opinion your post would have been taken more seriously without the Guild Wars 2 or Hello Kitty remarks, and the remark about being able to pick up any class and maximize its potential(that Ik you already apologized for) but hey hind sight is always 20/20 right? Personally I think if a person won't listen to polite and helpful advice on improving and refuses to pull their weight the best thing to do is just eat a penalty and drop. It sucks but you don't risk the ban from mentioning numbers from parsing or harassment of any kind. Maybe after being shunned enough in this manner people like this might start to wise up when they realize they can't get anything done because they are being lazy and no one wants to play with them because of it. I hope you don't get too many more groups like those though. At least, for me anyway, those groups seem to be few and far between which makes it a bit more bearable.

People should still know how to play their class properly once you reach lv 50 and beyond. This means you take your time to read your skills and put in some effort to practice and perform in any duty content in a party. Being Subpar should never be in anyone's mindset in how to play their job.

Sorry to say but this game thrives and caters to its subpar player base. One only need look at all the content that was nerfed or designed to face roll baby mode difficulty to see that. It definitely is in SEs mindset so why should players care more then the devs? Money talks and the subpar are in the majority. Also maybe they don't main dps but are gatherers or crafters in some cases? Their DoW or DoM class may just have been to clear MSQ content. It goes both ways, many people don't know how to craft HQ or gather efficiently. Should they be slammed by everyone for it?

Ahh, see this is the problem. You have excuses for yourself, but you're still willing to assume the worst of any "bad" DPS you're with. They must be afk! There could be people who caught you on bad days, and just assumed you were a shit DPS. Maybe even complained about you on the forums. Is that fair? Why not try giving others the benefit of the doubt, as you would want them to do for you.

On your point about crafting and gathering it doesn't go both ways in the slightest. Those are solo tasks. They don't involve anyone but yourself. The reason people don't "slam" people for it is because it doesn't effect anyone but themselves.

Combat on the other hand does not just effect you. You go into a duty with 3/7/23 other people. To simply not do what your class is supposed to do because you 'don't care' as you put it is extremely rude to the other people you get in your duty. Im fine with people being new to the game, I'm fine with people not being as good as others. There comes a limit however where you can't just expect people to put up with it. If someone is doing less damage at 60 than people were doing at 50 then something is really, really wrong.

Also to ask why other people should care? maybe cause its not NPCs in your duties but actually people?

I know this is a divisive topic, but I really want to say that FF Log site is really disturbing to me. I don't remember anyone saying they were parsing one of my Void Ark runs, but there I am in a Bard I'm just trying to gear up. As disappointed as I am in my parse, I'm even less thrilled that I had no idea I was being parsed. So I'm definitely FOR an in-game parser if only to keep from being surprised like this.

On the topic at hand, the margin for poor DPS varies from instance to instance. Just because it's a "leveling dungeon" doesn't mean that this isn't a problem. Not only is there the add phase for the last boss of the Aery, bosses in Vault require DPS to be on top of their game, Bismarck Hard, even old dungeons and trials such as Stone Vigil, Aurum Vale, and Amdapor Keep Hard can press DPS at times.

That being said, all the tools in the world won't help people in certain mindsets. If people want to troll or just won't listen, then all you can do is kick and move on. Even at my laziest I try to at least use some basic rotations, even if I don't feel like using Raging Strikes or Blood for Blood every time they're off cooldown. I'm also never in any rush to clear a dungeon. If I don't have the time, I don't queue, simple as that. Patience goes a long way towards helping dungeon runs. Maybe I'm just too chill or something, but I don't really notice this as being a problem in the majority of the runs I've been in.

Yes I did explain and in the end his healer friend only just attacked me telling me "just dps and not worry about other people" while he bounced around, not using his rook turret, wildfire, head graze, RF, and quick reload. We were at the end of the boss my friend and I, to leave and do it again would have been a waste of 29 minutes cause it took that long with wipes. My attitude changed due from all the bashing going from frustrated angry to emotionally exhausted.

My frustrating only got worse when I entered void ark, ever wiped on the first boss doing the bubble aoe phase? I did, ever see dps just afk auto attacking? I was seeing it, 5 were doing it, I still remember what class their were like the monk with no gl stacks. It was the longest void ark run I have ever ran and I can't fully pre-made an alliance, let alone get a full group of people for it on balmung.

I also I play on a ps4, not a computer so I can't install a dps meter, I get told by my friend I went in with.
