Which other MMO you are talking about? WoW / Gw2 / TSW and others MMO do the same events + new ones every year. You can ALWAYS get the stuff from old events each year (like Super Adventure box in GW2... and they don’t pay subscription fee) + the new items/ prizes from new events.

We don’t even have actual events (MMO style) here but REALLY short (30min +/- ) seasonal quest and they are going to sell you those items prolly 10$ each. I just don’t get a reason to be happy about. I was happy when I though they may repeat the event… till I read the info and notice was a cash shop update.

Pretty much this. I haven't played GW2 in a long time, but I can vouch for TSW. Every year they add in the previous year's event items, you can purchase the bags they drop from from the cash shop, do the old events for them, or buy them directly off the market or other players for in game currency.
You can also change everything about your character for either in game currency or real money. And TSW still churns a profit. While it doesn't get major updates as often as FFXIV, it is also not held back by limitations from the early 2000s and still remains a profitable game despite having a smallish player base, and being a buy to play game.
If a buy to play game can succeed with a limited cash shop that also has options for using in game currency for the majority of stuff, I think a subscription game can do well with a similar practice at least, or without a cash shop entirely.

In WoW, the seasonal events are mostly the exact same rewards that have been there since the event has been released. FFXIV has had different rewards for the most part each year.Which other MMO you are talking about? WoW / Gw2 / TSW and others MMO do the same events + new ones every year. There is definitely 100% stuff that be obtained from old events. There have been quite a few one time events that you're just out of luck if you wanted the Arcanite Ripper, anything from pre-expansion patches, anything that came from a dungeon that has since been revamped, the cosmetic from the time they brought MC40 back but gave it a 1% drop rate, etc.
For other games I guess I was mostly thinking of SMITE and LoL with exclusive skins that I miss quite a lot from dropping in and out of the game. I don't know about Perfect World or GW2, but having an event and then never ever EVER releasing the items again is not an uncommon practice for online games.
Personal opinion, but I think our seasonal events are heads and tails above WoW's seasonal events. I guess I'm happy because I've just kinda accepted that games are just gonna get more expensive if they're gonna keep up the quality. I mean FFXIV has like 10% the subscribers of WoW, and I think it's a much MUCH higher quality game for non-raiders. I know people are saying that FFXIV is really lacking content, but I came over here after being burned from WoD, and I can honestly say this is NOTHING compared to the travesty that happened over there, so maybe my standards are lower too.We don’t even have actual events (MMO style) here but REALLY short (30min +/- ) seasonal quest and they are going to sell you those items prolly 10$ each. The original three collaboration events (Lightning Returns, Dragon Quest X and Final Fantasy XI) never had associated achievements for completing them. The Maiden's Rhapsody was the first to do so. There is virtually no way to identify whether or not a player obtained the XIII items on the first time the event ran, the second time, the third time, or simply purchased them on Mog Station after the fact.
Still they are a LOT and add more every year http://www.wowhead.com/event=141/fea...er-veil#quests
X-mast event was 34 quest / 20 achievements and 111 items this year.....
That’s not an opinion but a fact… u can actually do ALL FFXIV seasonal quest in less than 30 min and the prizes are really bad…Personal opinion, but I think our seasonal events are heads and tails above WoW's seasonal events. Tomorrow “heavensturn” seasonal quest prizes are 3 ugly hats (again "samurai" skins??? now with monkeys instad of horses or lambs...) , lv 1, no stats, 1 table for the few who owns houses and some Food with TERRIBLE stats (decorative food?!) http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...6/Heavensturn/
I am a not raider and I have NOTHING fun to do since months, and I already paid till March 2016…. (Patch 3.10/ 3.15 are huge fails for me after several months of waiting…. ) But that’s another huge discussion for another post. Let’s focus on events and how is really silly to be happy cuz SE it’s going to sell old event items instead of actually DO the "event" for the players who joined FFXiV after HW for example and let then live the experience of one of the few good events FFXIV actually have since launch (Fates+ Weapon skins + cool sets and hair style). . Still can’t get why someone could be “happy” about that.

Comparing the sale of the FF13 crossover stuff to seasonal events doesn't make sense. The FF13 crossover isn't seasonal. It was a one off and won't be coming back. Since people are comparing it to WoW, it would be like WoW's pre expansion events, the rewards of which are now impossible to get in game and never will be again.
From a event point of view I prefer FF14's model. While the events are far smaller, they are always different each year with different rewards and a small, but unique storyline. WoW's events are exactly the same thing every year and have been for so many years the appeal has long since died. They do add new glamours and novelty items but there has been no new actual event content for years.
Of all of those things that are tagged, there's actually 4 real quests in there. 10 of those are just presents that you can pick up in the day of winter's veil, 6 of them are just people in other NPCs that tell you where the event is, 2 of them are just a trade in for preserved holly, and 6 more of them are the same quest that has been there since Winter's Veil was launched.Still they are a LOT and add more every year http://www.wowhead.com/event=141/fea...er-veil#quests

That's not even what I said. I just said that I thought that FFXIV's event was higher quality. You can't fact that in any way shape or form.

Don't worry, you're entitled to be salty in the forums. Just try not to be too toxic.Yet ever since the cash shop was introduced, we've gotten less content per patch than ever. Something smells fishy.
If believing they're reinvesting cash shop profit into the game's content helps you sleep at night though despite no evidence supporting that vs the alternative, by all means, believe it.
(This is a joke, I fully agree with your comment.)
Everything is bearable with music
If this thread has taught me anything its that we've moved on from elitist being the popular word on the forums to white knight.
Honestly I'm ok with previous event items being made available in the cash shop. If that makes me a white knight in peoples eyes so be it.
