Materia Changes in 3.2:

I don't know how many of you played FFXI, but I thought I'd drop this little of nugget here.

Diadem is getting changed. They are going to make it reflect what Sky was back in FFXI. I for one am super amped, and will actually try it then. The boyfriend did original Diadem, went "meh" but now that they are making it more like Sky, you can't sign the both of us up faster.

So how about everyone wailing about "DIADEM IS MINDLESS ZEERRRGGGG" wait until the new implementations kick in and then try it once again. If you still feel it is a mindless zerg... well oh well?

(Also I have to LOL really hard at "standing in one place clicking buttons" that's the vast majority of Battle content that we're grinding right now except for boss fights.)

Heh. I'm sure it's nothing personal. I can tell you I shy away from crafting and crafters as far as I can as well, so whenever crafting becomes relevant (mandatory) for a piece of content, that content becomes irrelevant to me. (Well sort of. I do the non-crafting parts and hope the rest falls into my lap somehow.)

I barely manage to do an Ixal quest or two to slowly creep them up to 50 so I can make glamour prisms for less than a tenth of the MB cost. Has already saved me a good 400k in the long run just with leatherworking and weaver. But even crafting those feels like such a drag I feel like figuratively slitting my wrist. Now, I'd normally just opt out of it entirely, but then I'm gonna be overcharged multiple times over on the market. Pick your poison, you can only lose: either your gil or your sanity.

It's easy to develop an irrational aversion to crafting (and crafters) under these circumstances. Can't blame anyone here.

Well I have quite a few friends in game I provide crafting services to for free or near about. My FC has organised our crafters so we have all the specialisations covered. Anyone who wants stuff made only needs to get the mats for it.

Crafting can be a productive social aspect to the game. I'm sure there are plenty of crafters out there who would willingly create things for others for a small fee if they are provided the materials.

I don't think that everyone needs to be crafters but at the same time crafting has to be rewarding for the people who do play and enjoy it.

I'd be perfectly OK with Crafting being required for my Relic, if Crafters weren't trying to charge me 10 million or more for the materials i need.

current prices or remembered "first days" prices? On Ragnarok the prices for those are currently around 300k each.

I'm surprised that attaining materia is even a concern. I dont have a shit load of top tier 3/4 materia and virtually no 5 because I personally can't be bothered, but obtaining materia is rather easy, ESPECIALLY if you have an FC with a friendly crafter or 2.
Short guide to getting good materia quick
1)HQ battle gear. Not just useful for better stats, HQ gear spiritbonds about 25% faster(or so ive been told).2) Spiritbonding potions, which can be picked up from your GC for seals at dirt cheap rates. 3)Patriots Choker, Patriots Bracelet,and Meteor Survivor Ring. First 2 from GC,ring from a low level quest line. If u wanna go full Spiritbond gain accesories, also pick up an aetherite ring if you can. If you do, that's+5 spiritbond gain alltogether. 4)GRIND. Or level another class, even level 40 HQ gear can become a level 2/3 materia, 4 if youre really lucky.

FYI, you dont have to materia meld your gear. Yoshi stated that its optional. Especially for those who dont raid. Nobody is going to kick you from DF because you dont have materia melded gear.

Also for those shamming crafters. Those prices are set based on material prices. The reason certain items on the MB are high is because of the high price on the materials it cost to make, especially HQ materials.

As I said: I'm fine with materia melds. I'm also fine with materia being somewhat precious.

What I don't want to deal with is stupid overmeld RNG, because I value my time and do not want to waste it because some RNG thinks: "nope".

Diadem is old gear, which is probably getting replaced by all the new gear. Not an issue or relevant to this topic.

I feel like alot of you simply didn't look into the live letter. Along with these materia changes, Diadem is getting changed as well. So those complaining that they won't do it because it's a zergfest, thats an invalid argument.

if only they lowered the amount of spoils needed (or upped the spoils exchange to 5-8-10 )....48 is a lot of gear traded for a 1 materia :S

and since diadem is changing...we dont know how "farmable" is going to be the new diadem...maybe is a pain in the rear and u need to farm diadem for 1 week to be able to buy 1 materia...
