https://xivpvp.com/client FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
I hope that clears up any miss understandings about xivpvp. Per the terms of service, user agreement and Prohibited FAQ use of network monitoring programs to obtain and analyzing game data/user data is a violation and punishable offence. In the original post I showed one example SE has made of people who have used a parser. Network monitoring software is the definition of the xivpvp client and this is clearly outlined as prohibited activitys. How is the client gathering the data?
Data is extracted from the network packets that the game receives.
The client does not touch the game client or its memory in any way. You can read the source code to see how it does all this.
Can I get banned for using this?
Not really.
The client is not gathering/submitting data that you don't already know. It just sniffs the network packets and parses the ones we're interested in, kinda like a proxy.
Seriously, you could do the same thing by manually extracting the data on the scoreboard at the end of a match and sending it to this website.
