Relic came that late because it is not supposed make content easier clear as long it is relevant. You are supposed to progress first 2 weeks with ilvl 190 weapon, then with ilvl 200 weapon until 3.1, then ilvl 205. If you have still not beaten A4S you can progress the raid with ilvl 210 weapon after 3.15. You can think old relic weapon was same ilvl as titan hard ilvl 80. You can think first relic quest was beating ravana 1 - 10x then you get your ilvl 190 weapon. You needed 3 week of mythologies update your relic lvl 90. You can think you need farm 3 week of eso in HW and update your ravana weapon for ilvl 200. After that you needed do atma step and animus step if you wanted it to be better than t5 weapon. Pattern is almost same than in old relic quest.

I think you are in the wrong thread friend, are you lost? If you read the first post, I say that the problem with the relic isn't the grind, but the time of release makes the weapon significantly less valuable than the other i210 weapons, and considering how hard it is to get, thats not very good design. Which leads me to:

This is true, however they said that the reason that relic is so grindy is that they compared the effort to get it to the effort of getting a gordian weapon, thus making the anima supposedly as difficult a weapon to get as gordian. The difference is that the gordian weapon has been available for 7 months already, with the i200 esoteric weapons having been available and widely obtained for about 6 months. Square have given us barely 2 months to obtain, let alone enjoy the anima weapon, which is the primary concern of this thread.

Here's how I would have designed it, I would have rearranged the relic and split it into two halves. In 3.05 I would have released Stage 1 as is, and for stage 2 I would have made it so that you must obtain 2 of the stage 3 items, this will get you your i200 weapon (unique model). Then for stage 3, which comes in 3.1 you must get the other two items, which requires you to collect items from the dungeons (same or higher drop rate than stage 1 crystals and can be used for leveling), this nets you the i210 weapon (unique model with glow).

My way is even harder than the current relic (because dungeon drops), but is staggered in a way that keeps people interested, and rewards them over a period of time. This way also looks much more manageable even though there is even more to do.

    And finally:

This thread has been around since day 1 of 3.15, sorry that people expressing opinions is so hard for you to handle ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

While I don't disagree with the idea that the timing for the relic weapon was wrong and SE is probably withholding a lot of information regarding what happened internally that led to the delays, one point is just ridiculous...

The relic is not hard to get. The process is merely a grind. I'm in multiple hunt, carry, and anima LSes and most of the people who have been diligently at work on it already have it. Personally, I'm sitting at 63/80 while pacing myself and will probably have my relic in another 4-5 days of pretty casual grinding (beast tribes, hunts, roulettes, and some carries).

That's a week or two worth of work. Ask any A4S clearing group how much time they invested into clearing A4S.

Comparing the time and gil I've invested into clearing A3S and A4S progression to what I've invested into the relic, it's not even close. I've spent far more time and resources on raiding than I will ever spend on this relic. It's not equivalent.

If you look 2.x pattern, relic was never bis before second raid pattern. In 2.2 there was atma and animus which ilvl was 100 that surpassed t5 weapon, but you get ilvl 100 from leviathan as well so you was never forced to farm relic for raid progression. bis weapon was ilvl 115 during that time. In patch(3 month later) 2.28 they released novus relic weapon that was ilvl 110 weapon. Even that weapon do not surpassed t9 weapon and was still not bis. 3 month later they released patch 2.38 that finally make relic as bis weapon ilvl 115 same than endgame raiding weapon. Now between 2.38 - 2.4 relic is bis until new content appear so around 5 - 6 weeks. That is the time relic is supposed to be bis weapon before new content appear. Difference between this and 2.x was that they wanted give us bis relic in first raid season in this expansion. Savage content was there already that long for the reason se had vacation because of released expansion. Content patches are supposed to be every 3 month normaly.

If you want you can check dates from patch notes yourself.
