So wait... when is this happening? Did the Japanese version say when it'll be there?

Why do you need exclusivity for "conversations"? I see plenty of people who put together outfits from various gear that is a far more interesting conversation starter than a pre-made set of items they slapped on. That actually requires creativity. And honestly, what "conversations" does this actually garner? I can only speak for myself, but I certainly wouldn't be inclined to hear all about an event I can no longer partake in no matter what I do. You did a fifteen minute quest and got some promotional gear. Congrats. No offense, but why should I care?I get that many want these items. Maybe I'm just old school, but what ever happened to uniqueness in MMO's? Events should be a way to get unique gear/glamour, and when it's over that's it. You missed it, sorry. I don't understand why that's gone these days in MMOs? It seems now everyone must have everything, always, and now. I used to look at characters with unique gear and compliment them, especially when you couldn't get that stuff anymore. It created conversation, and that character stood out in the world, as they should. It seems those days are long gone? Now, it's "well it'll be in the cash shop so I'll be able to look like them later no worries". No offense to those who missed the events, just wish we could keep some things "rare" these days.
Again, no offense, but... hard work? You did a quest you can sleep through and got promotional gear. This isn't like you beat Alexander Savage.Personally I think it's both a good thing and a bad thing, on the one hand, great that people can get the items! If they missed the events for one reason or another (whether they're a new player or a person whose sub ran out temporarily) they can get in on a hairstyle/outfit that they might really like. On the other hand however, it kinda lessens the amount of hard work that people put in to get the items. I have the items on my alt that I have had since 2.0 (I created a new character earlier this year which has since become my main), and have wanted to get the outfit/hairstyle on my new main. I wouldn't have minded doing the FATEs again, but at the same time, if they keep bringing it back it kinda loses its uniqueness. Sure bringing it to the cash shop makes it lose its uniqueness as well, but at least no one has to suffer through those FATEs again! I'm personally happy that I'll be able to have the items on my new main! I just hope it won't cost as much as the Minfilia outfit/hairstyle, but it probably will (although tbh I bought two anyway, one for me and one for my boyfriend's character) maybe offer it at a lower price since it was a special event thing? Who knows haha I'm just glad they're actually doing something about it!!!

I squeed irl
They'll probably come in around 3.2
I'm going to buy everything o-o
Ahhh gotcha. I'd prefer it that way, compared to the CS. I'm a bit peeved to be honest. I agree with others on the "So much for being a limited time only".
You might as well throw the legacy stuff up there too while they're at it. I was hoping to having something unique that was no longer attainable. Guess that won't be the case. I'll just hold onto my 12 starlight bardings and hope that they don't one day throw those up on the CS too.
I have nothing against legacy players or their exclusives but sadly, I can see this happening eventually too. I'm not a big fan of the idea of a small "in-crowd" of players being catered to in terms of exclusivity, but legacies were promised their exclusives, so I've always leaned toward all exclusives remaining exclusive. If they'll take away our exclusives it won't be long before new players start begging for what's left and how long before dalamud horn etc. hit the cash shop too? And why make the effort to be subscribed during a special event?

I'm so confident that this is not going to happen while Yoshida is in charge that I'd be willing to make a bet of losing my account over it (of which I've spent over 1.5k hours playing on). It's like when SE implemented the Anima and people claimed that it was a sign of things to come and that all content was going to be as poor as the Anima, two entirely separate things. They never once stated that the Lightning events were exclusive to my knowledge, it was always player assumption and if I were them I would have dropped that idea that they wouldn't come back after the second event, or even the third one if I was a little slow.I have nothing against legacy players or their exclusives but sadly, I can see this happening eventually too. Why make the effort to stay subscribed during a special event? Are you honestly telling me that people subscribe just for events even if they've lost interest in the game for the meantime? For the majority I'd say no, the event just happens to be running while they're subscribed. "But why do it then instead of purchasing it from the cash shop later?", I don't know, would you rather do a 20-30 minute event and enjoy the experience for free or pay for it at a later date missing out on the entirety of the event? Seems like a no brainer to me.

There actually was a post from a community rep, I want to say it was Bayhone, but I don't remember exactly, was posted right after the second Lightning Strikes event ended, saying they would not be bringing it back again (though they did later that year for the anniversary anyways), but yes, it was stated at one point that they would not be made available again, now don't get me wrong, I'm not against them being made available, I'm glad they are for everyone. but it WAS stated, at one point in time that they wouldn't be, so take that for what you will, really, I see it as a non-issue. Lightning is my favorite. more people will be running around with her hair/clothes, pissing off more haters. I get to smile more either way and enjoy my items I got.
One thing people need to note about the FF13 event, was that it was a special collaboration made to promote the Lightning Returns releases. There's no reason to keep bringing it back year after year, because it's just going to be the same old Lightning shyte with no reason to add new things because FF13 is over.
Personally I'm glad they're putting a tombstone on the whole affair by finally putting it in the mogstation, because now it means we can look forwards to new collaboration content someday(tm) rather than fixating on Lightning stuff.
(and no one cares about poor Shantotto or the brickman, hope they get put up there too)
Honestly considering I remade my current character (the one for my profile) in ff11 just recently, I'd like them to put Shantotto (and the DQ stuff too because may as well) on the station just so I can have more connection between my ff11 version of my character and my ff14 version.
Saying they do not plan to bring back the FFXIII event does not equate to intending exclusivity. The latter is merely a by product of doing so.There actually was a post from a community rep, I want to say it was Bayhone, but I don't remember exactly, was posted right after the second Lightning Strikes event ended, saying they would not be bringing it back again (though they did later that year for the anniversary anyways), but yes, it was stated at one point that they would not be made available again, now don't get me wrong, I'm not against them being made available, I'm glad they are for everyone. but it WAS stated, at one point in time that they wouldn't be, so take that for what you will, really, I see it as a non-issue.
