    I'm so glad someone said it, you are exactly right. Relic isn't for casuals, it never has been, its for the old XI players who are used to and enjoy old school mega grinds. These aren't casual players, and more often than not, they are the hardcore players who not only raid, but work hard to socialise and develop time efficient methods to make the most out of this game, which doesn't sound casual to me.

    Ultimately the relic is designed to be "accessible" to everyone, but it is most definately not FOR the casuals, its for the hardcore grind loving XI players that asked for it in the first place. (next we will be saying that XI relics were for casuals )

    XI relics weren't for casuals, but they had lasting value. There's a huge difference in doing a grind once and doing that same grind, from what YoshiP seems to intend, to be a yearly one.

    Yes, but this isn't FFXIV, it's a painfully vertical progression game, so the relic here is not a lasting thing except for players behind the curve or as glamour. Some say the relics in FFXIV are for the XI players, except they can't ever be what relics were in XI. In FFXIV relics are catch up weapons for players who have the time and/or mind set to handle a grind, they are not meant to keep pace with raiding weapons. Gating relic upgrades behind more difficult content disenfranchises a great many players. That's just plain bad business.

    Not according to my FC members who are happily progressing it. Perhaps the only ones being defeated are the ones who expected it to be something it was never going to be, or those with a need for near instant gratification...?

    While I'd personally love to finally get odin/2.x Ex trials done, I know from experience that randoms are simply too unskilled for it.
    Implementing that into a relic quest line would make it undoable for almost everyone w/o a proper static and completely defeat it's purpose.

    It's supposed to be a weapon for NON RAIDERS to get in their own time.

    You want challenge? A4S is waiting just for you.... his floor still needs some wiping because the last raid groups made quit a mess...

    Except not really: The Hard Mode primals had to be completed in 2.0 in order to obtain the original Relic weapon, and while Garuda and Ifrit HM weren't exactly difficult encounters, Titan HM was. Even well in to the 2.X series of patches, people couldn't manage to get past the Titan HM part of the relic quest without getting carried. So adding Extreme Primals (a more midcore content range) wouldn't exactly be too outside the original Relic's intent. Just make them earlier EX primals and possibly not current endgame progression.

    Especially given that Tomestone weapons are a thing now, and that's a MUCH MORE casual weapon than the relic even is. I mean the Eso weapon is literally "Do 18 EX Roulettes" (i.e. one single dungeon per day for three weeks.) Before that, the Law weapon was even easier. There are easy-to-obtain, casual endgame weapons available to players. Having the relic go back to being more midcore and less simplistic grind isn't asking for much.

    Okay to the multiple people who keep saying 'making the relic quest ask for EX primals would defeat the target audience' (there's at least 3 of you, and I'm not going to multiquote), please consider the more reasonable request that appeals to both sides:

    -content that is challenging, but doable for most of the playerbase, such as thordan ex, or a1s reward much of the more materials for step 3 of the relic
    -all other options for the materials remain the same

    The result is a shorter grind if you show you're capable of downing the content, OR go do the long daily grind if you can't.

    We'll have the options of 2.0 relic style which challenged players and took many players days - a week to down titan hardmode (or even longer for the seriously lacking players), OR 2.2+ relic style grind which required minimal group effort, or skill, but time consuming, and tedious.

    Fair?
