I've been wondering about that a lot, too. This stage is relatively tame compared to some of the older ones. Novus was hell. The Animus stage was a nightmare, too. While it was only 13,500 Mythology tomes at the time, we got Mythology tomes at a fraction of the rate we get them now, with the result being that the "effective" number of tomestones required was actually fairly similar. That's without factoring in all the time waiting for the 27 FATEs at their original, hours-long random spawn timers.

I'm only at like 5/80 unidentified items but I also don't have all the beast tribes up so I'm more or less taking my time with it and casually doing what I feel like doing..not in a major rush with it.
Friend/recruitment code for special items and things (use before paying first sub) RACN78W5 (updated) info on items here http://sqex.to/Cz9 code is entered via the mogstation.

7 Minutes? Must have been a very small sample set then. As others have stated, you can't do that consistently. If you have all the turn in items for the NM fates pre-farmed perhaps...but then, that is artificially skewing the results because you are ruling out the time it would otherwise take to farm those fates.
That is the problem with the example. It is not accounting for all the potential variables in the statistics. The time line is not accounting for real world results over time. It is assuming it will always be the shorter fetch/turn-in quests, which will not be the case over the course of up to 87 days (the time it would take to farm a full set of 20 from one tribe if that line was being done solely by that one tribe's tokens). I ran the Sahagin Rank 1 and 2's last night (trying to get them to rank 3) and had to zone to the island, spawn monsters, kill them, etc. zone back. Then I had to do a FATE...one that required you to kill normal monsters as well as the NM--even with a rank 20 choco it still takes time to run it down. Amiljaa Rank 3 run had me go spawn monsters and kill them for keys, then had to run to the cages and set the captives free. Had me running back and forth across the zone to do the quest.
These kinds of things can have a profound impact on the times, which did not appear to be accounted for, and that is why the example comes under scrutiny.
There is also the issue of you lumping the 12 tokens a day together to apply them to the 13 per item as well. It gives the impression you are farming 12/13 the way towards an item in one day, but technically you are getting 3/13 from the tribe, plus a smidge of poetics that can be applied across two of the 4 lines (remember, you can't use them on items from two tribes, so the poetics bonus has a diminishing return that eventually fizzles out). It isn't painting a very accurate picture as has been clarified in a couple other posts in this thread. While it works out eventually after almost 2 weeks to be the same point in progression, the way it was presented was a bit misleading---as it makes it seem like you could be progressing every other day when in fact it takes a minimum of 5 days from the start to feel the progression kick in, roughly every 4 days after that (don't get enough poetics for an item until the 6th day of running all 12 rank 3 quests, so you have to get that 13th token on the 5th day).

I love the forums. People pick one thing and try to go on and on about that one thing. Sorry you and a few others can't accept what I'm telling you. You're just wrong. I do beast tribes in under 7 min ALL THE TIME. A friend of mine does too! If you get a Fate quest, just do something else and come back later to see if it's up! Don't sit around waiting for it, staring at the screen! I've already said this! Or afk at the fate location and get RL stuff done! I don't count the time I spend doing laundry or homework towards the time it takes me to do beast tribes, why would I? I'm still being productive with my time. So, yes, Fates do add to your time of completion but why would you add that to the time it takes you to do the quest if you're not even playing the game during the wait?
ALSO:
1) I SAID THAT MY TIMES WERE A "ROUGH ESTIMATE." If sometimes beast tribes take 8 min, sometimes they only take 6, but sue me if the average is closer to 8. I WAS NEVER SHOOTING FOR THAT LEVEL OF PRECISION.
2) EVEN IF BEAST TRIBES TAKE A FULL 30 MIN LONGER, YOU CAN STILL COMPLETE THE RELIC IN A REASONABLE TIMEFRAME WITHOUT RUNNING ALEXANDER ONCE!
And as for the comment that I was being "misleading" that was just reading comprehension problems on your part. No one can farm 1.1 tokens or .42 or fractional tokens, period. This and my use of the word "average" should have made it clear that you don't get an unid item from beast tribes every day. BUT IF YOU GET 4 AFTER 4 DAYS, THE AVERAGE IS STILL ONE!
I absolutely will not waste further time discussing this part of my post with you or anyone else. My methods have been explained. I just think some people want to maintain their negative stance towards the relic and carry it to the bitter end. But this is not productive. There are things we do in life. These things are all a choice. They are not always our absolute favorite things but we choose to do them for whatever reason (to have the reward of a relic, for example). Complaining may get SE to change things in the future and I'm sure these steps will be nerfed eventually. BUT FOR NOW THE ONLY RELEVANT QUESTIONS ARE: AM I GOING TO DO THIS? AND: IF I AM, HOW CAN I BE THE MOST EFFICIENT AT IT?
If you continue to disagree with any part of anything I said, that's fine, JUST DON'T DO THE ACTIVITY YOU THINK I AM MISLEADING YOU ABOUT!

9 hours for Giant Seps for my first relic.........
And yes, this stage 3 of the anima relic is pretty tame compared to previous steps. Take the book step alone, which was 900 enemies, 27 dungeons, 27 specific fates and 27 specific leves. That took a long long time, as buying the books in the first place was half the struggle.
Even novus stage, 75 alexandrite which were a pain to get then go on to meld 75 materia to it, with failure rate and high prices for optimal melds.
Zodiac required drops from dungeons which has a percentage chance to drop then crafted items that required desynth. I remember running Sastasha HM 45-50 times for this stage.
I think most people complaining about the quantity in this new relic must either have rose-tinted glasses on or did the original relic post nerf.
It cost me 15m for one of my relic zetas. So far, this one is cheaper, but hopefully SE doesn't have super expensive steps every patch.

Favoriting this thread for future reference. <3
Truth be told, I'm not super worried about the tokens. I finally have something I can spend my over-abundance of Poetics on (because I spam World of Darkness for glamours and still do the Main Scenario roulette), and have been accumulating Law tomestones quite quickly as a result of roulettes as well. This is a much nicer, more organized way of doing it than I had figured though (haphazardly spamming Alex and doing roulettes pretty much, lol). To me, the issue will be getting the HQ items you need to turn in with those tokens... I might just end up gathering the mats myself and finding a crafter (or crafters) who can make the items for me. ;;;;

Ya this grind really isnt all that bad compared to some of the old relic stages. Im doing pretty much what op is. Throw in a map everyday for another chance and doing some alex grinding when I have the free time. Easily doable in 2 months without much effort. And done in a month with some extra alex grinding. My one complaint is this was released so late that 3.2 should be here before most can reasonably finish this step. And with 3.2 will come i220+ weapons. So if your not done by then its going to feel like a waste of time. And thats why everyone is feeling like this needs to be grinded out as quickly as possible.
