Just ignore the <specific FATE> quests and dump the rest of your allowance into Vanu.
They may need 18 instead of 13 token per item but you can buy all items from them and you will save a ton of dumb waiting for a FATE to appear.
This is great yea I got lucky some of my other classes need Alex gear so this is the only time I love how badly RNG is treating me cause I'm killing like 3 birds with one stone, with getting gear the precision Gordon pieces and some law....
I also just do my daily beast tribe quest as normal and all my rouletts but no front lines as it takes days for it Que and I barely hunt lol so I hope things work out right now I don't mind it...well except the money part :/
and in the end everyone will notice that this step is less time and gil consuming then the novus upgrade was and most complaints are unjustified
This is pretty much true. It was originally 800 tomes per Mysterious Map, for a converted cost of about 60,000 tomes. The 80 tokens for Anima are worth 54,400 tomes--a difference of about 6,000. Now, you did get one free map from Expert Roulette each day, so it's hard to do an absolutely direct comparison--in the end most folks likely spent significantly fewer than that 60,000 tomes on Mysterious Maps.
But when you throw in the costs for Materia Melding, the cost of Novus skyrockets compared to that of the Anima weapons. While the prices on the tokens are high right now, they're steadily declining and should be far more reasonable in the end. They also can't *break* on you when you try to turn them in, the way Materia could for Novus.
Each of the tokens is weighted the same. So you would not literally be able to purchase an unid item after doing 1 round of each beast tribe because the 3 of each token would be different. But after 4 days, you could get 1 of each, which works out to the same average time as getting 1+ tokens per day from beast tribes. How I got my actual numbers is pretty simple:Wasn't talking about the poetics. Was talking about your calculations on the beast tribes. 12 tokens a day from four different tribes in 4 different zones, 3 tokens per tribe. 28 minutes a day? and is a net of 30 minutes a token? Even if you account for the poetics, not sure that comes out right. Would have to see the actual numbers I guess.
3 of each beast tribe = 12
You need 13 tokens
So a day's worth of allowances gets you 12/13 of a token plus what you can buy with poetics which is 120/680 of a token.
12/13 of a token is .923
120/680 of a token is .176
.923 + .176 = 1.10 tokens per day
1.10 x 7 days per week is 7.7 tokens per week
My time calculations are based on 7 min. per beast tribe. For me, this was on the high end as I often complete in 5 min. Some of you don't believe that and that's fine. You should absolutely base your calculations on your own times. As for why the calculations look the way they do, I rounded up the 28 min even more, to 30. It's napkin math. It's an approximation. All times are +/- 2-3 min. You can't make a plan like this without estimating some numbers.
The point of my post was not to give people exact to the minute calculations of when they will have their relic done, but to show how planning reduces that sense of impossibility. There's a book called "Why Didn't I Think of That?" that I highly recommend. There's a section where the author talks about something similar - breaking up something big and overwhelming into smaller parts. He asks how many people can memorize a 30-digit number. Most people say they can't. However, he points out that most people have the phone numbers of 3 people memorized and those numbers (with area codes) = 30.
So please keep in mind that I'm trying to help people see relic as a manageable task (i.e. they don't have to spam Alexander hundreds of times for their relic to get it in a reasonable amount of time). I'm not trying to argue that it's quick or even that it's fun. There's some effort involved too. But even if it takes someone twice as long to do Beast quests, it still only works out to 2 hrs per day (rather than the 1.5 I said, based on my own personal numbers).
As a side note, to add to the efficiency side of things, I will be spamming some Alexander for relic, because I want my War Panther mount for the Dark Knight achievement. Working towards multiple things at once makes the grind a bit more satisfying for me. Also, even though SE probably didn't get it right with this relic quest, I wouldn't say they ignored player feedback completely because there are different ways of getting tokens and you can get them on different jobs.
Also, grinding with a friend makes things better too. That's what I'm doing.![]()
I'm at 12/80 so far and have been doing it casually this week. I'll be 16/80 once the Beast Tribes reset today. Just as a disclaimer, I did cap on Poetics and Law tomes before the patch and I haven't spent my Allied Seals since the expansion launched. But, if I keep going at my pace, I imagine I can average about 15-20 a week with about 2-3 a day.
Can also use this time to get my Tank achievements from Alexander.
