This is what Diadem should have been, but they completely dropped the ball on that. Why not add a special kind of zones/raids/dungeons for the new weapons with all kind of stuff like (hard) boss fights, grinding normal mobs for drops that are needed for the upgrade, special materials gathered exclusively in that zone and/or dropped by bosses. There are so many possible ways of doing this, I wouldn't even care if the zones are copy/paste areas like in XI as long as the content itself has variety and is fun to do. Even Dynamis is/was way better than this.
Is that right? Slap in the face you say. heh....its a game. Don't like something don't do it. I for one think this quest line is to darn easy. Personally I think it should take at least a year to earn this weapon. (for the record I am not even remotely kidding)
Funny, pretty sure the fact that Alexander savage is so 'hard', is the reason raiding has "fell off". Also explains why it took weeks to complete while some are already near completion of their relic.
However, why does it matter what Ilevel someone else has? The point of doing the so called "hard" content is to have fun with your raid group, not how much epeen you can throw around with your Ilevel.I'm not complaining at all, just commenting on this person mentality that i210 weapons are being handed to people. I could care less if people get equal ilvl to me from doing content that can be done semi-afk.I suppose I should
I do not do hardcore savage raiding and never will. I spent the better part of 10 years in Wow raiding hardcore. I refuse to go through that headache again. This games raids are NOT raids anyway, they are one hit wonder primal fights. If this game ever takes out the stupid raid timer and adds 10-15 bosses per raid instance then we can talk on what is raiding and what is not.
Its funny, SE has as many subs at least as how much Wow did in Vanilla. However they cant seem to make a raid instance with more then one boss and no trash but blizzard did it 11 years ago, I find that funny.
Why should it take a year to get a weapon that would be useless in the likely 3.4 by then?
It shouldnt. It should take TIME only, period. Unless SE starts requiring raiders gear to have to use crafters to obtain said raid gear then this is nothing more then a slap in the face for us choosing a non-raiding playstyle.
It is a game your right. However, I am a consumer and I will never be happy when my playstyle is being punished when raiders and PVPers are not being punished the same.
This is the ONLY subscription game that
1. Offers No raids. One hit wonder bosses do not count, period. If you want to experience a raid, do Ulduar when it was relevant with 10-15 boss fights in ONE raid instance. Wow has been doing it since 2004 and SE cant even seem to do it 11 years later, its pretty sad.
2. Punishes us subscribers with less inventory space UNLESS we pay out of pocket for extra retainers. Those retainers are inventory space. Why the HELL is a paying subscriber having to pay more when he is already subscribed? He shouldn't and I am glad that this is the only subscription game out there with this issue.
3. Adds lack of content compared to competitors. This game has, my guess 1mil subscribers. Vanilla wow had around that many if not a little less. So I ask myself WHY did wow's patches add 1-2 huge raids per patch with 10-15 bosses PER RAID with equal to less subes, when SE gives us.........a 4 man raid, each boss in its own instance with NO trash and no real reason to go through it? There is no excuse and the lack of content as a whole shows that there is a big difference between wow and SE and not for the better either. I am playing because the pro's outweigh the cons. However I will never be happy when SE's competitors are offering much more content and actual raids for the same price as I am paying here.
As a consumer I LOOK and see which is the best bang for the buck at a specific price. I bought my twin boys a 2ds each for Xmas. Walmart was offering them for $99 each that included mario cart. Game Stop offered the same thing at the same price but WITHOUT the game. Why in gods name would I go to Game Stop and buy it there when I can get the same thing that also includes game for the same price? No one in their right mind would do that, and the same is said for subscription based MMORPG's.
The fact is this regarding the content. I'm sorry but Wow does raiding better 10 fold. I just hope SE fixes it and gives us actual raids that are more in depth and adds more content with them.
This relic thing is the same thing. It added NO new content. It is having us do what we have already been doing or did do in the past. Combined with requiring our non-raiding playstyle to be linked to crafters when raiders are NOT. We are being punished for our playstyle. So until SE starts requiring raiders and PVPers to be forced to use crafters to get said armor/weapons, I will always want to know WHY my playstyle is being punished when others are not.

"While"
Are you hopeful there will every be a plethora of content? Even in your spite your are more optimistic than me..
Everyone really needs to look at it from the developers point of view. For the past few months, playing this game has been this: Log in, do dailies/run static raid, log off. Old content, and world content (FATES) weren't touched. The only zones with actual people in them were Idyllshire and Ishgard. Even then that was only when they were between roulettes. Now, with this relic: We have people everywhere doing FATES, beast tribe quests, crafting, and running every dungeon just because the relic requires every tomestone under the sun.
Now had they put it in with only new content as most of you all have suggested aka: a couple of one hit bosses like hydra and chimera, no atma style things, and no grind. Then that is the only thing that would be ran and it wouldn't fix the fact that everything else was stagnant. They put in roulettes not just to get you tomestones, they put them in to make sure higher level characters were still running dungeons so lower level characters can actually progress through those mandatory dungeons. I honestly think it was brilliant. My server is much more active and alive (and it's one of the most populated NA servers) now with the relic like it is.
Seriously, stop being so short sighted and think of the bigger picture. I don't know about any of you, but I recently went back to WoW for about a month. I decided to level up a new character and every zone all the way up till I just couldn't stand playing anymore was dead. I was the only one around for the entire time I was questing. Even then, all I ever saw people do was log in, do their garrison/dailies and that was it. There was little to no incentive to run the old content for the higher level players. That right there is just wasting large portions of the game sitting stagnant.
So, if the relic quest chain as it is makes you unsub or quit: then I really don't think this game was for you to begin with. Hope you find something that is more fulfilling.
I can't stand how most of the OLD content is what we need to do for the relic upgrade....
My only problem is the crafting requirement. Without that it would still take about a month or two to get all the unidentified items for the 4 pieces needed for step 3. The crafting requirement feels unnecessary and is nothing more than a pitiful attempt to make crafters useful again...which could have been easier to do with i190 crafted gear that could be used for raids and whatnot, and far less controversial.Everyone really needs to look at it from the developers point of view.
