Raiding and hard content from MMOs 8+ years ago didn't emphasize rewards. You did it for bragging rights and cosmetics like a special mount. Gear was simply a means to an end.

The fact that people blatantly won't do challenging content without some sort of incentive other than the satisfaction of clearing it proves how the entitled generation has infected the modern MMO market.
Odd, I was under the impression that this is the first MMO to reward players for tackling hard content with pretty much the same reward that you get if you didn't tackle the hard content at all and replaced it with 'glamour', 'timed exclusivity' and 'sense of accomplishment.

Can you list me a series of MMOs that doesn't reward players with way better gear that what they have if they didn't tackle the game's hardest contents? To help me believe that the 'olden' days were truly as you say, I mean.
