hmm.... I see your point. how does SE go about fixing this broken system?

Is it reset Tuesday yet.
I question whether I'm playing a PvE game with PvP mixed in, or I am I playing a PfG.
Oh sure, that's this community's answer to everything - just make it like FFXI. *rolls eyes*
Face facts, this game will never be FFXI, it was never intended to be FFXI, those days are gone for good. Like or not but this game will never be like FFXI so you may as well either enjoy it for what it is or leave it and play something else more worth your time (like, FFXI?), this game will simply not change to appeal to the fickle tastes of a certain hardcore minority of players, certainly not this far along in it's lifetime.
As far as fight design goes its actually not hard to come up with interesting new fights so long as you think outside the box. Imagine the possibilities with this statement: "A raid boss that isn't arena based," and they are always able to add in new mechanics (think the entirety of T7). Its not an issue of feasibility, rather on the devs themselves.
As for class design, I feel that fleshing out how a different kind of support role would work may be very interesting, though I dont actually see any problems with class design, as the difference is in how it plays rather than what it brings to a fight, although different classes do benefit each other so there is an element of strategy to party composition in that respect (BRD is good with casters, DRG is good with BRD, NIN is good for slashing debuff, etc.)

This game is nothing like XI

Yoshi P has stated that he doesnt like the class system, and I agree with him in that I think sub classes would detract from uniqueness and would add far less than making a brand new job. Granted, SMN and SCH exist, however half of their moves are the same, with their identities being made from their role and their pet, which is an exception that works, not a rule.
There is also the issue of class balance. Viking sub class of WAR that takes away damage dealing for defence, would negate any need to level other tanks.
That's from where Yoshida needs to stop getting ideas/coping from.dont you mean https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Warcraft?

you know I believe that this is a hit or miss, yes we all know ff14 took alot of aspects from world of Warcraft, but whatever happened to the uniqueness of a final fantasy game in itself, I mean final fantasy has always dipped into something different whether it was for the best or for the worst. Did 1.0 scare square enix yes I honestly believe it did, and that to me is a contributing factor to the play it safe mentality that Yoshi p no Square enix the company has, but play it safe is not final fantasy.
To be fair, I think SE has done a good job in making sure that XIV isnt like world of warcraft, the game feels fresh in comparison to other MMOs I have played, and I feel that the dev team have done well in this regard. I was simply using WoW as an example of a game that is a lot closer to XIV than XI, and that we should be looking at games like that (or GW2, or other MMOs on the market), and not wishing this game was XI
interesting point, I guess the real question is what can Yoshi p and the dev team do moving forward to keep the player base happy and interested in playing final fantasy 14? because I'm not following what direction the game is going in and the gear to content or content to gear without individuality is just not getting it. storyline is great don't get me wrong, its just takeing them to long to release major content releases. to be 100 % honest heavensward was way to easy and as a expansion go.To be fair, I think SE has done a good job in making sure that XIV isnt like world of warcraft, the game feels fresh in comparison to other MMOs I have played, and I feel that the dev team have done well in this regard.
