I really don't think I'd enjoy Heavensward without it. Trying to walk through the zones would boil my pee... As for Azys Lla - I'd never set foot there again unless a question required it. It'd be like Sylphlands Hard Mode. No.

Sorry, I don't hang on the forums very often. I've posted with some regularity recently, which has been rare for me (once a day, maybe)... I'm just not a forum person.

And this is my chief complaint about the flying controls. On controller the right analog stick controls both directional navigation and camera view. I can only use World of Warcraft's flying as a proper example on how flying felt more fluid. (and it's been so long since I've played WoW I cannot recall how it worked only that it did) Switching out of legacy controls does help however I cannot use that when on the ground, I dislike it's camera rotation.

Right, it's not that flying isn't useful because it is 100% when a zone is designed with flying in mind. I quested on foot like everyone else in every Heavensward zone, and like every one else I thought the entire time, "man, I would really like to have flying right now". Each zone in Heavensward is designed with flying in mind. They feel big, they look good... while in the air. Questing til you got your aether currents on foot felt frustrating at best.

You don't like it, then don't DO it.

If you don't need to fly, then don't, no one is making you, you can crawl along on the ground all you like.

Sure there are teleports for a reason, and flying is faster than a ground mount which is faster than walking, but Flying gives you a vastly different view of the world allowing you to literally see the sights as you travel. Flying is simply another mode of travel, so sure, it can be boiled down to nuts and bolts as nothing more than a slower way of getting from A to B than say, teleport.

On the other hand, what's wrong with having flight in the game simply for players to enjoy?
Sorry. Personal opinion and all that. I'm allowed to dislike the controls of the game, and design of features around it. I'm also allowed to publicly announce it provided I follow the ToS of the forum. (Though I will agree I should have done so with grater explanation)

UPDATE: I did try flying with a keyboard and mouse. (felt weird to play a game that way.. for me at least, I know PC gaming is the "master race" but whatever...) and it was pretty good, very natural feeling. So, my chief complaint is controller use and flying. Still, dislike they design zones around flying. Okay, thanks for reading and responding.

At least on PC, the Flight controls in FF14 are pretty much exactly the same as the ones in WoW. Almost identical infact.

The issue you have with a controller is valid and is something that SE should take as feedback, but removal of flight because the controls on the controller are problematic seems somewhat extreme.

then play with a M&K, kidding
you probably should've asked them to make a better control set up for the controller since your problem stems more from how it works on a controller.
I'm sure you'll like the world more when the controls are more fluid.

I'm a PS4 player, and I have absolutely no issues using the controller to fly. I personally like the flying controls in this game far better than I have in most games with flying of some sort or another that I've played. It's honestly a lot better in first person as well, though I rarely do that often.....

Its so simple, I don't see how it could be so troublesome to you. I have never tried its with MB and mouse, I do everything except type with a with my controller, and have never had trouble.

I do hope they keep flying in the future... I don't care for the bigger areas, but flying is fine.

If anything, I wish they'd make flying "easier" to obtain. Yes, it was easy to obtain flying but "exploring" the areas for aethercurrents felt everything but "fun" to do. Just give us a quest next time or make it like in most games: you fly at cap and "GG"

PS: Oh and yes this is personal opinion too but apparently everything that's against the game is considered trolling so, just putting that there to say that I'm being serious.
