Oh I thought "glamour is the endgame" was a joke, because FFXIV doesn't have much of an endgame. And glamour gear can cost a fortune! Where in all other games, end game gear was what cost a fortune.

I always took it that way to. I didn't think people were actually serious about it considering at least 25% of the community chooses to run naked anyway. Hell, I remember when this game didn't have any glamours.
Glamour is not the real endgame!!!!!!!!! Mounts are
It was a joke, until Heavensward came out. Now its a reality cuz no1 cares about the raids anymore

Yeah, there is no reason to care about raids because of: lockouts, statics, short shelf life. I really always played MMO's for raiding. And this game is obviously not going to change its formula. I think my MMO days will soon be over and I may just switch to console games. I'll just get my socialization IRL.
Well, I did once refuse to queue for PVP until I'd glamoured a new piece of gear...
It's really one of the rare games that takes glamour this seriously, most games once you get an item you have to deal with the look if you want to be effective. the only other mmo i have played that puts a serious tag on glamour is POS2 were you can completetly control how your character looks, (but a disturbing amount of loli) regardless of what you are actually using. and since these days games are all about looks it's no surprise that people use that tag of glamour is the real endgame.
Ever played FFXI? for years you were stuck with what look you had, character and gear. I love how this game is with items honestly, cause i'm quiet picky when it comes to how my character looks in games.
I'm not sure why people keep thinking it's a joke...I'm dead serious when I say it's endgame.
Seriously it's no less valid than all the raiding or PVP or whatever.
Also really half of players could easily get onto Eorzean What Not To Wear... do us all a favor and at the very least glamour a matching set, please for the love of the Twelve your raiding gear is awful looking and mismatched. Fix it.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
Player
I always say "Glamour is the TRUE endgame" as a way to specify the idea that "you can't fight crime if you don't look cute".
i.e. - Obtaining stylish gear and making your character look amazing is a big part of fun for a lot of players and leads to some amusing or enjoyable reactions. However it also requires a lot of time and gil to do, along with the idea that you weren't able to even start glamouring until you reached Level 50 anyways, and many of the best vanity items are only able to be made from items you get from the endgame. I never assumed it was a joke levied at the game's "lack of content", just that it was an entire part of the game that is set within the endgame alongside raiding and other stuff.
I totally agree! I love leveling up my jobs, but what satisfies me the most is glamouring them once I get to the highest ilvl ♥
Disregarding the obvious necro bump of the last poster, i need to know what this chest is called. I'm working on a hobo set:
