I have the Moogle attire after attending the fanfest in person, spending quite a bit of money for the flight and the hotel and the ticket.
I have the I BEAT ODIN t-shirt for having actually beaten Odin at that very same Fanfest.
I asked Yoshi-P to kindly sign the official artbook I bought there. He did, because he is a cool guy.

Those are all items I cherish and I would hate having them suddenly available to everyone "just because". That's just wrong.

Precisely why I don't concern myself with sustainability. Sucks for future generations, but hey, not my fault they had circumstances that prevented them from taking advantage of the opportunity when it was available.

On a more serious note, I personally hate exclusivity. I know how bad it feels to miss out and that ruins my enjoyment of owning things that are exclusive because I "know" showing them will make others feel bad as well and I'm just not the kind of person that can enjoy making others feel bad. It can't be helped, because some things in life are physically limited (Like Dodos ._.), but I would avoid it as much as possible.

Digital items aren't "physically" limited.
However, you do get it. I have exclusive items and I get it.

But it's nothing to do with you, nobody is complaining that you have them or to you in general. This isn't about you at all.

Do I feel special about my Legacy Chocobo? Tbh not really, but it did start up a huge bitching fest before 2.0 released. Ironically it's mostly the people who complain about the legacy items that are selfish about their own exclusives.

Would I care about the legacy chocobo coming back? Well, if it was under different circumstances then I wouldn't care (or if it had been presented that way at first). They really should have just made a chocobo design in memory of 1.0 and made it available to all. And the tattoo? Well imo that one is kinda fair, it doesn't show up on any collection list etc. Even if you look at a naked character on the lodestone, nobody can tell you're legacy unless they look at your default private achievements. What about the other items? Well pre-order bonuses could return, though nobody cares about them because they're gear and not something like minions - which can be viewed as a collection at all times.

As for 2.0 pre-order bonuses, that wasn't quite as ridiculously exclusive as other items like the OST minions.
I would definitely have to agree that THESE bonuses are really the only ones I can say "too bad" to people about.

Physical or no, limited items lose their intrinsic value the less limited they are.
It's true in real life as well as in virtual worlds. Such items are used either as reward (see A4S weapons) or as incentive to do something that would otherwise attract less people if this incentive was not offered.

If you start bringing those items back (like the holiday events items, for example - a choice that I do not approve of) people will feel less motivated to obtain them the "proper" way rendering their original purpose moot.

I do not mind not to have the legacy chocobo. I do not feel the need to have one as I had my chance to get it and I missed it. Period. It is only right that whoever took the chance, instead, is rewarded for it.

Well, it's not really a matter of "preferring". There might be things that keep you away from the game during that period tho, and you might not be able to play during the event.
Knowing that those items will still be available to you makes you rethink about your priorities.
I understand that for some this could be a very good and convenient thing, and I agree. Still, there is no denying that it diminishes the importance of the event itself.

Can't say I agree with you at all, my Starlight equipment hasn't lost all of its value, the experience of the event hasn't lost its value, it's all the same to me and yet the items are on the cash shop. If my schedule was so busy that I couldn't participate in a 20 minute event for the span of the 2+ weeks it's around for, I'd feel incredibly shitty for missing out and would be glad that it was made available on the cash shop. FFXIV is low priority for people, as it should be being a game and all. I don't believe it diminishes the event whatsoever, I mean, this argument would work for the Moogle outfit if it was available to only those who attended the event in person, but that's not the case. To say it applies to seasonal events, it just seems silly to me.

I admit that seasonal events are not the same thing as the moogle outfit, legacy chocobo and minions. I just mentioned in my earlier post that I am not happy with them being in the cash shop, as in the long run having a seasonal item makes you some sort of "legacy player" if that item was only available during two weeks of a specific year. "I was here for halloween 2013!" and things like that.
Still, to me they are not as meaningful as actual limited stuff that involved something more than a couple of fates.

Also yes, this is a game and should be taken as such. This is why I do not feel the compulsive need to collect everything possible.

Certain exclusive items should remain exclusive. You got the Moogle Attire originally from either attending the Fanfest or paying to watch the stream of it. It should remain exclusive to those groups of people. I also think the Lightning glamour sets should still remain exclusive as well.
