You are the devil and I denounce you! Go back to hell and take your abbyssea with you,
lol I scrolled past this post and had to apply the breaks in disbelief.

As much as I enjoyed Abyssea in XI, no thank you. The current XIV system has something similar in the form of Diadem. If we're worried about longevity of the game, we'll need something that's suitable for XIV and not a copy-paste from XI.
I have never played FFXI but this forum hate for it is digusting. From what I have heard I believe FFXI had plenty of well-working mechanisms and I see no reason why working stuff couldn't be added here.
And actually to half of the requests being made on this forums we could reply "Go back to WoW." So why isn't that happening? Hm?
Cut it off already, lots of good stuff have been introduced in lots of games. FFXIV can take from them too. I am not talking about copying, but about taking inspiration.
Its not to say they can't make anything work, but even the developers don't know how to make content from a previous game work in this one. FFXI and FFXIV are two entirely different beasts with their biggest similarity being the FF name. Whenever someone wants to make an idea that comes from that, they need to also suggest how it works in the context of FFXIV. If not then the product is a failure from the start. Things like hunts and Diadem are really poorly made content. Do they work technically? Yes. However so much better could of been thought out yet developers take the easy route.
I did play XI, and Abbysea was a game breaking content that absolutely invalidated every single piece of content other than itself in the game. There is alot of hate from people that played XI from the beginning for that state of affairs, as it literally broke the game from what it was before.
The level cap raise in XI was the straw that broke the camels back and forced alot of people that were considering leaving to finally do so.
I am completely and utterly against adding content like abbyssea here. It would be a nightmare and would complete invalidate the raiding scene. It would be a mindless leveling and gear spree that would no longer require any kind of mechanics.

I wonder how many people would leave FFXIV if they up-graded FFXI's graphics and added an Aesthetician. I know I sure would. I haven't logged into 14 since I finished the Iroha event. I've resubscribed to FFXI and am really enjoying it. I really don't understand the FFXI hate. FFXI at least it works with a variety of content and play styles, while FFXIV has either "Zerg Fest" or "Group Jump Rope".
I played both FFXI and FFXIV for the same amount of time (about 5 years each) now and FFXI was only "broken" once when they added Abbysea. While FFXIV seems to be "broken" every patch because the battle system won't allow for content other than "Zerg Fest" or "Group Jump Rope".
I agree Abbysea leveling was just wrong and required no skill, but how is that any different than FATE grinding in FFXIV?
I think if FFXIV was a little stricter with their claim system we could see open world content that isn't a Zerg Fest. I'd love to see Leves become a group activity and the return of 1.0's Hamlet Defense.
Oh who am I kidding? that will never happen. I'll just go crawl back to my FFXI cave now. Don't mind me even though I've been supportive and subscribed to 14 since day one. I really have lost hope for this game becoming anything more than "Fashion Fantasy" for ppl that can't grind tombstones to cap each week to make it into "Endgame Group Jump Rope"
But why should SE care? They make more money with my FFXI sub!

Anything else would be better than how the game is now.
I give common sense a like
Sorry but I see this all the time and the only follow up that I have is, what would you suggest? It's been 10 years since I last play XI but from what I remember it was skill chains and magic burst. I mean wasn't most fight just a war of attrition?
