Can we change that from "private housing" to "gardening instances" and tell me where to send all my money?
I'm pretty sure the scion costumes were designed so that our friends wouldn't be naked. And Livia's mount was designed so she wouldn't be floating in mid-air in an invisible vehicle, like Wonder Woman.
So yeah, this game would be better without these items. Naked Yda and invisible jets.
I don't want to look like I'm an expert in glamour but, aside for Minfillia costume, you can reproduce most of the costumes from the Scion with in-game items. Heck, I've seen people cosplaying as Yda many times already.
Yes these costumes can be used on anything unlike those glamoured models, but this just shows that they aren't exactly the best designed outfits ever if you can reproduce them with in-game features: we are essentially paying for a bunch of in-game items that are class-free, which is something that they could've done by themselves (I still want my WVR outfit glamoured...)
The same thing is for the mount as well: we are paying essentially for a recolor, something that it's already in game for the chocobo (although very annoyingly so: why can't I just pay with gil? Gilsink already!) and overall a constant feature that's updated for new outfits. But not these two mounts? What's next, selling recolored weapons? Additional color and details for character customization (OH PLEASE I HOPE NOT...)
Again, my red baron was a gift, a gift that I didn't want to accept but it would be rude not to. But even then, both me and my friend acknowledge this shady act.

I mean, I sorta get there's an expectation of certain things when you pay for a monthly subscription.. But, if you think about the fact that somebody did actually have to do that work, then by claiming they shouldn't charge for it that's kinda like saying somebody shouldn't be paid for their work. And that's not what you think, is it? Furthermore, these are all mainly glamour items. I don't consider my monthly sub a charge for glamour, it's for the game that I'm actually playing, the content, dungeons, raids, trials, quests, etc etc. I think SE has done a commendable job keeping the cash shop limited to simply glamour type items, nothing that breaks the game itself. It's totally separate.
I completely agree with the OP. They could be using these things to improve the quality of the game while still making money with optional items. As the OP said, implement one in game, one on the Mog Station. Everyone's happy.
Relax, you don't need to justify accepting a gift or even purchasing something from the cash shop.
I've bought a fair number of things from the cash shop (slepnir, minions, fantasia), but I'm probably giving these a miss for this reason. Someone said the music was different, do they have different animations or is it the same as the standard magitek? But with that said, I am against this idea of selling "recolored" mounts (let's face it, it's a recolor).
I can't see them ever doing this. Gating instanced housing behind the Vundu beast tribe quests? Maybe. Putting it in the cash shop seems a huge leap from their current behavior with the cash shop.If anything, I'm wondering what people would do when SE will put private housing on the mogstation for real money charged upon your current subscription. It's optional so you don't have to buy it, even though it's terribly made.
Yup. It truly is optional. But it's optional right?
Honest and for-true. The white and red magiteks aren't necessary in the game. They're just a pretty recolor of an existing mount. If you like it and want to spend the money (or accept the gift), go for it. Otherwise don't.R-r-right?
Sounds like someone is mad.
Personally was an early Christmas gift to myself.
I'll be honest the glow is a side benefit but I have always loved the White magitek, couldn't say no as soon as I saw it.![]()
