Oh come on, how many more smileys and "fun" speech do I have to use until you notice I was joking around?
But since you want to be serious, fine: it's not dps tunnel vision. I don't know if you have a BLM at 60, but the class works on various timers. Enochian is the one buff that has to stay up, and losing it is not just a matter of "how annoying, now I have to sacrifice a GCD to get it again", all your new skills become unavailable and your dps drops by about 40% (an estimate based on several people's parser numbers) for up to 40 seconds, depending on how early you lost it. I'm not stupid, I know what I survive and what is dangerous, so it's not like I'd ever die from standing in an aoe I could have theoretically moved out of (not that I do it very often, but it does happen). I'm pretty sure the dps you complained about needing extra healing didn't die from it either, they just required more attention than you were willing to give them.
About Manawall/Manawand: It doesn't work like that. There is only one situation in which you do not move, and that is when you are casting Blizzard 4 for the Enochian refresh and either the Umbral Ice timer or the Enochian timer are so low already that you can't start the cast again AFTER moving out, meaning Enochian is at ~3 seconds or Enochian is at ~5 seconds with Umbral Ice at 3. And what do you need to do to use Manawall or Manawand? Stop the cast! The sole reason the BLM stays in the AoE in the first place!
So if I used them, I could also just MOVE, you know? Because both things would lead to me crippling my dps like that, not just the "oh how annoying, I have to sacrifice one Ninjutsu on using Houton again" or the "argh, now I have to reapply both my DoTs seperately!" for BRD.
And no, that's not dps tunnel vision. I main healer, but I play all classes. That's why I know how they work and why some classes get a (limited) pass from me for getting hit by certain things.
If anything, I see tunnel vision on your side, since you are blind to how any other job works but your position. Someone stands in an AoE? Burn them alive! No questions asked, like WHY they did what they did. It might surprise you that it doesn't always mean that it's because the player is bad and doesn't care..*sigh*
Your logic is backwards, if anything, the classes that have a good reason to sometimes prefer getting hit should get 3 strikes while the others get one, since for the others it's just because they were lazy or noticed it too late, while the ones who only get one strike from you are the ones who have an actual reason to stay where they are.
(I usually don't get hit by AoEs. If I do, it's at most once throughout the whole trial/raid/dungeon run, because I know how to use the abilities that help me through short necessary movements. But I also don't expect every random to be as experienced with their class as I am, so to just not heal them anymore just because they got hit ONCE is seriously rude on your part.)

Hello! ^^ First time posting in healer forums (I main a Drg) and while reading usually kills my confidence as a dps (for various reasons) I have been leveling a WHM and an AST recently and I have to say...I'm starting to understand you guys more. For my confession I let a monk die when he pulled way ahead of the rest of us while there was still two mobs on the tank. Dps should not pull ahead of tank. I felt bad afterwards though...(though the tank, who is my FC mate, told me he did the same when he saw that.)
I chose WHM because I wanted to hold sway over people's survival. Doing a good job inflates my ego, as does purposefully doing a poor job when someone is being unduly rude or blaming me for their mistakes. It's not altruistic in the slightest. I love letting a DPS pulling mobs fall on his sword.
The Seraph Cane is my favorite weapon because it vaguely resembles a shovel. The shovel I use to dig the graves of the scrubs who didn't earn my heals.
Last Void Ark run on AST - Was in Alliance C, so we were in the far back in the Pagan Knots, etc room.
One of the DPS insisted on being clustered with one of the other alliances, super far from where we were dealing with the knots and ADDs. I ran half way around just to get them in range, the first time, for a much needed Tetra (they were at about 15% hp), ran back to my party.... and just too much going on - with a lagging co-healer - and a desperation to gang bang Knots (...I've been scarred for life by those things on my second run ever) to pause to say anything. Besides that I was hoping the guy would notice that they're not surrounded by -anyone- of people in their alliance.
Saw the person's HP going down a second time..... and they were still in with the other alliance on the other side of the planet..... so I let him die. >_> I ain't hauling ass all the way there while the other healer is lagging terribly, and leaving my party unattended. So, I ressed him, as close as it would let me, to our own party in an annoyed, "this is where the hdsjkfds you belong"....and hopes that they didn't just run back to the other alliance for no particular reason :|
Luckily, they got the hint and joined us, after that.
Thats right :| I let you die so I could forcibly transplant you back with our party :|

The first trial I ran as an ast at lvl 60 I used my lb 3 and see what it looked like even though no one was dead and it could have been used for dps. I regret nothing.
I was leveling WHM and got Garuda HM in the Trial Roulette. The barrier came down; the NIN lunged forth and pulled. I ran up to the middle and cast Protect, threw Regen on both tanks since I didn't know which one wanted to MT, then swapped into Cleric Stance. The NIN was still taking damage, but I figured one of the tanks would peel Garuda off soon.
Except they didn't, and the NIN died. I just... left him there and kept DPSing for about another 45 seconds. I feel a little bad about it now, but looking back it felt like the right thing to do, and hey, the other healer didn't raise him either so we had the same idea.
------------
There was also a time where I might've used my last Aetherflow on Bane and then tried to Lustrate my tank friend during a large pull in Keeper of the Lake. That didn't work out, for obvious reasons.
Player
I fell in love with a summoner in expert roulette around a week ago. I was getting tons of spears, so I just kept tossing them on him. And he actually made use of them. Very good use. Each time. I think that was the first time I've ever seen someone take advantage of spear.
I could have helped successfully kill the Grey bombs on Pharos Hard Modes last boss, but I wanted us to wipe as many times as possible to make my DF group hate their own lives.
Why?
They made my life a living hell and blamed me for things they caused due to ignoring boss mechanics and poorly done pulls (last room with the breakable walls mainly)
We wiped like 4 times. They were at each others throats, It was awesome.
something surprises me alot though in all these posts....to know that fellow healers do all they can to wipe a group or make other people life miserable..just bcause some cant play their role properly or as you see it, doesnt mean you should kill them on purpose....they rely on you to stay alive and you rely on them to stay alive too...if you kill them you kill leggit players that were giving all their best, even the one that dies constantly may be giving his or her best..I am surprised....the only person I refuse to heal and it happens only a couple of times, is when I have to deal with insulting people THEN and only then I will ignore them, but it has nothing to do with game, it has to do with attitude and poor education of course those gets reported right after and most of the time they get booted.
I didnt know people became this elite to punish others for not being perfect...I learn every day.
As for me, the worse confession is to heal and see that no heals were reaching out to finally realize that I had targeted a mob instead of the tank.
How did I feel ? totally stupid
