Holy Shit, the people in this thread...Salty as fuck and some of you really should be ashamed.

Ive noticed a trend with people like you in this thread, all your FCs enjoy the luxury of already having a house. Spare a thought for those that are waiting and dont have the option for gardening, choco stables, airships and a just a place to call home.
I was one of those waiting on Tonberry however a nice person sold me their own plot for my FC on the weekend. but you know what after reading the lodestone last night I'm mad as hell for those who are dangling by a thread waiting for these possible plots to free up. SE should actually be making more effort to appease the people WHO ARE STILL PAYING the sub rather than mooches who are unsubbed taking up precious housing spaces.
in regards to not knowing about the login campaign, as well as the reclamation warning emails, the free login campaign announcement emails will also be sent to them.

in a perfect world a thread about a free log in campaign could follow more of a "yay my old friends may return and we can share fun times again", or "possibility of more subs = more revenue = more content"
instead its hijacked into "now i'll never get my vanity" grumble grumble grumble

The housing shortage has been going on far too long. I'm sure I'm not the only person feeling angry about the fact that the Free-log-in Campaign looks likely to sabotage the one tiny measure they have taken to alleviate it so far.

Even if this was a problem we should solve for them - take a better look around the forums and see how many suggestions have been made for how many issues (many of those have been persistent since pretty much the start), and then log in to the game so you can see how little of those has been applied. Threads keep appearing, suggestions are being repeated, over and over again even after all this time - for a reason: the issues are still present. So even if we should solve it, I have a feeling most of us are beyond the point to even try by now.
As for the anger and length of it... I've said this before, I'm gonna say it again: been wanting a house since 1.0, been paying my sub every month ever since the fees were introduced in 1.x, been saving up as much as I can since day 0 - meaning missing out on cool new minions and cool new glamours and cool new items in general all this time, and yet I still can't have a house. I'm sorry I'm not a 9000-star omnicrafter, so I can't rake in millions every day, but this is where I am right now: sitting on the gil that I can't touch and can't spend on what I want either - "too long" really doesn't even begin to describe it. And I'm only one of many such.

You know what, wanting to bring in new blood and wanting to bring back old players who have "given up" on the game - nothing bad with that in itself. What the problem consists of is the timing, the way housing has been (after such a long time) set up, the way this very first (after such a long time) step to counter that setup is being backstabbed by this campaign. The problem is the fact that this is not the first time/issue (and not the last either, I bet) where SE doesn't seem to think things through and instead just goes ahead with whatever is on the schedule, without taking a second look at it, without making modifications to avoid the negative side-effects. (And let's not even be conspiracy theorists for now and don't assume this had been planned just like this from the beginning.)
And for everyone who's saying "if they left they won't bother to come back just for their house" or "nobody's that evil" or any such - let me mention the "why can't anyone ever create a character on Balmung, I have 8 characters there I barely touch 7 of them but damn if I'm gonna delete any of them" crowd, the "oh I have two mules, both with their own FCs with houses as well as personal houses" crowd, the "I have hundreds of millions, not like I use it, I have a house I don't use, sure you can have it for 10 times as much as its original price" crowd... You get the picture. It can be argued that "it's only a very small percentage", but house owners themselves are a very small percentage, while the want-but-can't people make up a significantly bigger group.

It does mean a potential problem - one that could have been avoided with a bit of thinking, and small modifications. And let's give them the benefit of the doubt and say they did the thinking and applied the tweaks (meaning no-sub returners won't be able to reset their timers): poor presentation becomes the problem (once again), because if it had been mentioned in the post, this whole thread would not exist in the manner it does.

I don't know, maybe in that huge housing complaint thread or the housing subforum or any of those other avenues instead of going "man I really wish all those old players didn't come back to repopluate the game".

This is what I came on here to reply to as well Ozz. It's incredibly easy to judge people who are upset when their FCs don't share the same rare privilege as you do. You get to sit back pretty and not have a care in the game while a majority of others are locked out of exclusive content because of this housing fiasco.

Yes this login event isn't going to ruin all of the reclaim, nor would enough houses be available even if it wasn't happening... but I don't think that's their point. It's just another knife in the back in their eyes when they're paying customers and they should take priority... Not unsubscribed users.

My FC is lucky enough to have a home as well, but I completely understand the anger and the salt from players who feel lied to and betrayed by SE.

This affects housing availability, too. You know, which people were looking foward to getting? Even the slightest chance will have people looking to try and get in, so the chance of taking that chance away will of course piss people off.

So no, its not "go argue over there", when it is this subject that is going to have people wait even longer for a chance at buying.

Yea some people are salty in this thread however they have every right to be. Look at all the people waiting for housing. This Free login campaign sets the housing freeing back over a month so they have every right to be angry and upset.

At the same time this is a great opportunity for the game to draw in the players that it lost during the 5 month break of no new content.

Except no one has a problem with people returning to the game for a few days. As has been said multiple times in this thread: All they had to do is require an active subscription to prevent demolition.

I have a house and my FC has a house, but I have several friends that have been really unhappy because they still can't get one. People are understandably frustrated with the timing of this event.

The thread topic is about the free login campaign, and most of the posts here are voicing concerns over possibly losing a chance at getting a house because of the free login campaign. If a mod decides these posts are off-topic, this thread will be closed whether or not you're running around trying to play forum police.
