Isn't the reclamation timer reset only if the person that can reset the timer is actually subscribing? Meaning free login campaigns won't affect the timers?

You'd wish that were the case...
Nope, you just have to log in and touch that house and magically it will bond to you enough to not fall apart for the next 45 days again. It's about entering the house, not about having a sub or not.
BUT. They could actually change it that way. Requirement would be "have an active sub AND enter the house".

Or they could just, you know, add enough housing for everyone so we wouldn't all get up in arms about these housing relinquishing plans at all.

Probably not doable without making personal houses be in their own mini-instances rather than a full zone with plots.

@ Nekodar - Who cares how they do it, as long as they do something? This isn't a problem we should have to solve for them.

The housing shortage has been going on far too long. I'm sure I'm not the only person feeling angry about the fact that the Free-log-in Campaign looks likely to sabotage the one tiny measure they have taken to alleviate it so far.

I would love SE to give more free days of these, so people who isn`t playing can keep their houses.

When players bought their houses, no decay system was in place, the implementation of it was not only useless and will help absolutely no one, but also was a change of rules that of being implemented right from the start many, many players would have not got a house because of it. Not only that, but the ridiculous short timer is plain pathetic and only hurts players to try reduce the insane amount of QQ of players who aren`t able to get into housing.

As with any of these "pls gib house" threads, thanks to the QQers, the already limited housing system just became one of the worse ones arround, serves you perfectly right that timer reset cause the free login. You guys ranted and ranted without making any sense, SE took the simpler solution and now, no real change to housing will be made till... Maybe forever, really, thank you.

Probably not doable without making personal houses be in their own mini-instances rather than a full zone with plots.

I think a lot of people would be fine with that, especially if you could have other players visit. Wards are nice but I'd happily sacrifice them for the sake of actually having a house after waiting quite a long time.

try not to be so pessimistic. most inactives will not come back if they lost interest in the game. many others may not even be made aware of the free log in. even if some plots get salvaged by their current owners for another 45 days, it is very unlikely each and every possible inactive home owner will log in just to screw you out of a house

Well I am sure nobody is going to come back just so they can maliciously deny other people something they themselves have lost interest in.

I still think this is going to have an effect on the reclamation though, and that will have a knock-on-effect for people wanting to buy houses.

Seems posts like this are the ones calling others vultures, and this free login is not going to stop people from losing their house in the long run. These "vultures" are still going to be there waiting until the next reclaim happens.

Personal housing instanced, FC housing public in an open zone the way it is now.
