My main in FFXI was for years, since they released in game was the DRK. When I got to FFXIV in beta I was disappointed in the lack of my Edgelord skills so settled with Paladin. I grew to love the style of it. When DRK came back in HW, I leveled and geared it sure, but find I enjoy the vibe of the Light Knight.

Ast - because I love Gambling.
Drg - because I love to sleep on the floor.

    Scholar for me.
However, I want to try out Astrologian and Darkknight, because I like the mysterious vibe they emanate.
I've always really enjoyed the classical druid. Their close connection with nature always appealed to me, so when I started with FFXIV I first layed my eyes on the whitemage. For some reason though, it didn't hook me and I swayed over to the scholar, because I like the concept of gaining power by deepening your knowledge about the world. I want my character to be smart and rely more on strategical planning than muscles and reflexes. The ability to precounter attacks with shields and debuffs fascinates me more, than merely reacting to them. I initially started out with a scholar, already with the Astrologian or Darkknight in mind, planning to switch as soon as possible. However, I'm glad how the Scholar turned out and I'm really enjoying it to the point that I want to keep it as my main, with the Astrologian as alternative and overall character enhancement, lorewise.

When I first started the game I was like YEAH BARD but then T4 happened and I was like hmm SMN looks good for this. So I switched. And not gonna lie, what really tipped me over was the i90 SMN bodypiece. I gotta look really good obviously. Since then I really liked it. Setting dots, having some back up utility in the way of raises, running around having to dodge while Ruin IIing (though I used to be able to run and shoot with my BRD it just didn't feel the same). I just really liked the feel of it compared to all the other classes. And now I have Deathflare. Not turning back now!

Until Red Mage; the greatest job comes out:

AST/WHM, because I like healing in this game. Despised the role in XI though lol. Been leveling Monk for a 60 DPS job, 'cause Monk is great.

And have 60 PLD on my alt character. Because wynaut?

Both will be RDM when RDM comes out though. Red Mage.

I'm addicted to healing. Well, more specifically AST and WHM. I've been trying to level some ranged DPS classes on my main character, but every time I go in a dungeon I'm just like "Man, I miss leveling a healer." Even though I'm always on AST for everything I do, outside of crafting and gathering, obviously.

Way back in 1.00 I made the choice to be a Conjurer and liked Conjurer then. We had the elements and the ability to AoE or solo target switch on each element. There was no version of them. Over the course of 1.00 and in to ARR it got assigned to healer only with enough DPS to scrape through solo content. The point being, I played a different class when I started and it ruined it for me. As healers go, Whm is a good healer. It's just 'not what I signed up for'.

Since exploring ARR and HW more, I find Goon to be my favorite class. I have enough defense to almost be an off tank and dps is never in question.

I'm sure I'd like Archer as well if there was a ranger job. Bard is not my style. Pug and Rogue just feel like Goon with less armor, Thaum would be a good glass canon but the amount of spammed, floor mechanics in the game ruin it. They need some teleport skills similar to the Goon jumps. None of the tanks, tank. They are expected to be attention whores screaming for aggro and then made to pray the healer can keep up if they get it. Stance like cleric but for tanks would solve that. Something to make a Tank in tank stance a turtle fortress but useless as dps or a weak tank but more dps. I haven't done much with Arcanist. It's a pet class. It does seem to be the more diverse but I don't know.

For me, it's the MCH. When the three new classes were announced, my original priorities were DRK>AST>MCH. However, once we got to see some details of the classes, and some footage, that quickly became MCH>DRK>AST. The first thing I did upon entering Ishgard during early access was make my way to the Machinist guild and pick up the class. In moments, I was interested in the characters involved within the questline, (partially helping that I was a Limsa man myself, so I felt at home with a former pirate for an instructor), and as soon as I first got to play the class itself, I knew then and there that my previous main was essentially dead to me, shot down in it's final days by a skilled marksman.....

As excited as I was for the Heavensward story after the events of 2.55, I only touched it for long enough to be able to escape the city so I could fish in the new areas when I needed a break from leveling. After that, I spent all my time leveling MCH to 50, learning the skills and layout, and getting used to my rotations. Unlike any other class I had played before or since, each skill of MCH just clicked into place where it belonged. I never once questioned, "how do I use this skill", or "where would I put this in my rotation", and instead it seemed to just fit together for me with hardly a thought. The adaptability of it drew me as much as anything, as the way you have to use the skills is based greatly on what the current situation is in the fight, with each new encounter changing what would be the best line up of attacks to use in order to get the most use out of my abilities. The result would be that while everyone was complaining about how low the MCH class's DPS was, I was actively out DPSing practically everyone I came across in runs for those first few weeks when all the content was new, and the updated class rotations hadn't been optimized. While others were complaining that the class was terrible, I was clearing content with ease with no issues related to the class itself.....

Simply put, I've played as each and every class to an extent, but none aside from MCH have ever just felt "right" when I was playing them. MCH for me is that class that shows up in one game out of a hundred, where you just feel as though it's your class, and was built for you. From the story of it's questline not putting you on some grand pedestal, to it's rotation being both simple and complex at the same time, everything about the class is just perfect to me. While I am a bit sad that so few MCH mains seem to exist, I also stand with a great deal of pride when I see my lone turret standing as the vanguard of an army of players in Void Ark, or when I have those moments where I'm outperforming everyone and showing them that we MCHs aren't just those rare bad players who can't do any damage, but that we who learn it are a powerful and versatile class in our own right.....

I'm currently using a different main right now, but Paladin is my true main. Even though it lacks in power and flash compared to the other tanks, I really like how simple and easy it is to use and understand. Plus I like swords! ^^

For my other character, it's White Mage because I always liked healer types.

    MCH. It's a love-hate relationship.
