They said 3.2 is going to change the tank's damage formula. Depending on what they do the era of high tank dps may be gone and they could focus on defense again.

The only difference between 2.0 and 3.0 is that people are being held accountable now. I can't tell you how many Scholars I've seen while leveling that stand still for upwards of 4-5 GCDs because they don't need to heal. Nothing in this game, outside of coils, has ever been so hard that it was impossible for the healer to DPS. But now in 3.0 people lost their free ride because of 'the raiding scene' and now everybody wants to quit? I can't help but wonder just how many of these healers are just mad that they lost their ability to watch Anime or something while in a dungeon...
That's why I like AST it gives me more to do besides just healing (cards) but I still dps even on that. I wish healing had more assistance type actions where I can buff the party when I'm not healing. I stance dance because just pure healing would put me to sleep lol. This is my first mmo so this is all I know healing plus dpsing. I would love to just stick to my role but I don't want to be bored or just stand there.
For me it was never about the high numbers. It was about being that wall, about being that guy where we all get into instance and they think "jeez this guy has almost double our health". Now in this current meta it's about being a dragoon with more defences and about 1k more health. You show up in a party geared WITH TANK ACCESSORIES, and get criticized for it. It's honestly aggravating for me and this new patch can not come soon enough. Until then I will have my mixed strength and vitality sets ready.

are you pretty sure they do that? i repeat whe dont know how the new damage formula is, and make damage in vit and str well, if the make the damage from skills in vit and damage from auto attacks in str meaby yes that works, but put a 50-50 or a 30-70 in all type of damage is very very a poor solution, and devs whant tanks go to use fending again.
parry yes is garbage now, i dont say another thing, but if the put a new stat for tanks like str but one only for tanks, and they make a formula for parry like 2.0 the parry strength scales with STR and parry proc with parry, then devs have control not only the total dps and the max vit the tanks have, they control the parry scales better and make the stat dont get overpower, is only something i image, but if this happen they can desing the bosses more better of the tanks stats and the pro-raids dont defeat a 2 or 3 turn in 1-2 weeks.
i cant speak for others , i main brd , but my main alt is SCH , and while i dont mind dpsing sometimes , i despise the idea of being forced TO DPS , give me a way to SUPPORT DPS and make them do more dmg , a debuff / buff (kind like AST ?) , when i play my healer i want to HEAL 1 , support 2nd and dps when there is nothing to heal and my support is sorted out...
atm? im dpsing most of the time and i dont signed up for that when i rolled SCH ...so yeah why bother playing SCH? i almost retired it....
and when ppl rolled a tank , they wanted to roll tha ROLE , be the protector of the party , the wall that mobs need to pass , feeling like invincible , if SE doesnt know how to create tanks that are fun while BEING Tanks...then tanks are doomed...because the role itself is heading into a dps role that get punched in the face... and thats not fun , active mitigation is where the fun is in tanking (see other games)

No as a main healer I love tanks with high hp. You will never hear me complain about high hp. It's no fun healing a dragoon lol. I had one tank who had less hp than the ninja. His reply was "I didn't want you to get bored". We survived fractal but that wasn't my idea of fun lolFor me it was never about the high numbers. the tanking gameplay will remain the same imo. From what i gathered they want to make the accessories relevant again so that's why i see vit affecting damage as the incoming change, potentially even to the point that vit is the new main stat for tanks across the board. Only reason i wanna say vit becomes the stat for affecting damage is because it would make tuning future boss's damage dealt and health pools around the presence of the tank easier.
why? the tanks dont gonna have a gameplay redesing like bards, is only a question of stats, the jobs dont gonna change at all, leave the job you like to play because you cant do high dps numbers, is you choice but for me is a poor reason to leave the tank job, no ofense.
